Seriously? A few examples from the past few years: seniors leaving dead fish on cars belonging to families of other teams; kids being allowed to use snorkels and deliberately dq in A meets after getting enough points to win the meet; parents heckling kids from another team in clerk of course; seniors breaking into other pools at night and sh!tting in them. Enough?

I happen to be at Overlee and have never seen/heard of any of these and I think the dead fish one would be directed at us. You personally witnessed all of this?

I can say no one has shit in our pool at least.

So to sum up the evidence is dumb teen pranks from at least one team and some jerk parents, which you can find those on the sideline of kindergarten rec soccer across the DMV. And this behavior only exists in D1 you say?

Yes, someone did shit in the overlee pool overnight 2 or 3 years ago. It prompted the manager to have a security company out the next day.

Wow. Missed that one! I thought they had to close the pool after something like that for some period of time and don't remember seeing any announcements but must have missed it.

So we've narrowed down this is Tuckahoe and Chesterbrook.

For anyone whose kids swims for a lower division team, try to watch your kid swim in relay all stars and you'll notice half of the D1 parents just camping in the stands even though their kids aren't actually swimming

Who said poor sportsmanship only happens in D1? It seems you’re cool with it anyway, so perhaps you’re part of the problem.

My kid doesn't swim in all star relays but couldn't this because their pool has teams in nearly every relay and they know the kids and are cheering for them? Is the seating so limited everyone is supposed to cycle in and out for every race? I've never been.

The people on DCUM seem real focused on it happening in D1. Read this thread and tons of other examples. But feel free to start another one that says Poor sportsmanship in NVSL - all divisions welcome.

Only being familiar with D1, I don’t really know or care what’s going on in other divisions. I’m not cool with poor sportsmanship whether it’s happening on my kids’ team or another D1 team. Being defensive about it is no way to remedy the problem.

.

Yes, the seating is limited for individual and all star relays so you are supposed to cycle out so the parents/fans of the next event can cheer but that doesn't end up happening.

This. My pool usually has three or four teams, but the coach is strict that you watch your kid, not the pool's other teams, and leave. Meanwhile, D1 teams have coolers and sections and everyone else has to crowd in an hope there's space to see their own kid

If that is widely known and stated etiquette and the announcer says it at the meet, etc., this is obnoxious for sure.

I think the way to remedy the problem is to not make vague generalizations and accusations. If you see something going on or know of something going on, speak to the team rep and/or the coach. If you are going to post about it on DCUM, say something specific and name the pool. The general sweeping statements and gossip are not helpful.

What remains vague after the specific incidents mentioned in this thread? The incidences of unsportsmanlike conduct that I’m aware of were all known to team reps, coaches, and others. Denying that specifically detailed and reported incidents happened or are vague generalizations is ridiculous. Do you expect to see paperwork?

you (or someone) didn’t name the pools for the pranks and if you have flagged the hogging of seats directly to coaches and team reps, well done. Shameful it continues then.

I’m in a (non-Big 3) D1 team and I missed one of my own child’s relays last year because O, T, and CB would not move from the bleachers. **RUTHERFORD: Take notice now — kick those parents out if they pool that crap again!**
