who else is just totally numb now?

To the OP: did you vote for Biden?

Is that why you are numb?

I started thinking about this yesterday, when I realized there had barely been any reaction to Florida's six week abortion ban going into effect - and I live in Florida. The stupid gd Alito flag thing. The polls showing this race so dismally close that I can't even believe it - while young leftists are trying to make sure Trump wins. THAT GUY.

I feel like the thing that people have been warning about is finally happening to me - I'm starting to tune out. I'm just so numb now.

Are you feeling that way? How are you overcoming it? I feel like now is the time we need to be most fired up - and I am just so tired. It's been 10 years of this now.

I have been feeling this way since 2016.

Project 2025 is getting closer by the day. God help us.

We can not give in or give up. That is what they want.

The election is going to be awful there will be violence. The GOP will steal the election. Wake up people from Gen Charles Flynn active duty ie US Army is compromised, secret service compromised, house of Reps all MAGA traitors, senate as well GOP. We are so screwed.

Trump is not going to win.

Uh... yes he is. Quite easily too.

I'm tuned out until '28. Both Biden and Trump will be gone by then. A sitting president and an ex-president with their allies in the DNC and RNC have completely stifled meaningful opposition to these two senile geriatrics. The next cycle will be better presumably.

You didn’t even have to type this. Anyone not paying attention to the GOP’s publicized plans to end democracy isn’t paying attention to anything.

But the internet being what it is, it’s not impossible that you are actually a very tuned in Republican hoping to get more people like OP to tune out.

NP. The same people bleating this are also telling me men are women (despite women being killed for thousands of years just for being women). They tell me that the feelings of men are more important than the safety of women. They tell me women need to be totally happy with boys taking their daughters’ places in sports. They are the same people unbelievably claiming crime is down when we all know it’s because it’s not being recorded (and I personally have experienced more crime in the past four years than I have in all other years of my life combined). They claim “children are resilient” and the school closures didn’t hurt them, when anyone with a child who is tuned into the feral wilding going on in schools knows that is a horrific lie. They say inflation isn’t bad when I have food receipts from five years ago that are shockingly different.

Here is your problem: when, as a political party, you tell people to believe lies in areas that those people know for a fact aren’t true, they don’t believe you when you say anything else.

The Democrats and Democrat activists like yourself keep telling me that the GOP is planning to end democracy, and a whole other host of horrors. But I know for a fact that you are lying and gaslighting me in other areas. Why should I believe a single thing you say?

All of this is about a power struggle between two groups, GOP and DNC. They will use you, lie to you, manipulate you. They take a kernal of truth wrap it around a narrative to manipulate you. You are naturally becoming tired to it. Don’t worry though, they will generate a new story to get you to do what they want. Maybe it will be terrorism. Or a new variant of Covid.

Some truth here. I agree.

The next virus has already started, thanks to global warming and people not wanting to take any precautions. It's being reported on, but everyone has their fingers in their ears.

I'm numb and depressed right now as well OP. Will go out and vote in November, and do what I can to help democracy in the mean time.

One thing I have done to help myself is to limit news and social media consumption (across all platforms, including forums like this) every day.

There’s not one of Trumps policy stances that doesn’t have majority support. He wants to do what most people want to happen. Of course, the special interests that have run DC to make sure the people never get their way can’t stand it.

Just hunkering down until Rovember.

“Most people”, at one time, were OK with chattel slavery.

If you managed to make it through 4 years of Trump, 1/6 and the craziness since, then being numb now, as the potential light is at the end of the tunnel seems short-sighted. Work hard to get the Demcorats in control so sanity can come back to the surface. It only happens if the GOP has a complete and total Watergate style reckoning.

Most people support abortions/Roe. Trump doesn't.
Most people support limits on gun ownership. Trump doesn't.
Most people like having a functional federal government. Trump doesn't.
Most people support Ukraine. Trump doesn't.
Most people think Russia is our enemy. Trump doesn't.
Most people think billionaires do not pay enough in taxes. Trump doesn't.

I could go on, but the PP is simply wrong in the assertion that Trump wants to do what "most people" want to happen. Just plain wrong.

False equivalent.

The DNC, nor any Dem president has staged a coup against the country.

+1
At least the border will be under control, which is my primary issue right now.

What are you expecting him to do? Announce Civid restrictions? Anything he does is subject to SC knocking it down as they did to Biden... I would not get my hopes up.

What will Trump do? Seal the border and stop the invasion. It’s not that hard, just takes a little leadership on a critical issue. What we have today is either indifference toward or outright encouragement of a flood of illegal immigration. I can’t remember voting for it but that it what we got.

Trump killed the republican border bill that would have stopped the invasion. Trump employs illegal immigrants at his properties. If he's elected the only thing that will change is how Fox reports about the border. You realize that, right?

It was down based on Covid restrictions.

Keep dreaming, pp.

Unfortunately for you - we have 4 years of a Trump presidency to know what you say is all BS.
We know that illegal immigration was tremendously less than what we have with Biden. So, you can wax on all you want about what you *think* will happen, but we have past experience on which to base our knowledge.

It was down based on Covid restrictions. Should/Could Biden have continued them?
