I can't even read this thread. I'm just going to say: lol. And leave it at that. |
As you don’t. Even thin menopausal women lose their waistline. It isn’t about gaining weight (though yes that does happen easier). It is the hormone change. You will never have the same narrow waist you did in your 20s-30s after menopause, even if you don’t gain an ounce. Clearly you don’t understand what menopause is |
Some of the women at my CrossFit gym, who are late 50s, are ripped and have low body fat. I can see their abs. They give me hope that it is not all downhill! I turn 51 this week. |
Is this to maintain your weight at 80 pounds? I eat (ballpark) at least 5 (10?) times as much. My stomach is flat at 115 to 120 pounds, and I'm not drinking warm water with lemon as a treat or counting walnut halves. I just had two servings of shrimp and grits and a handful of chocolate covered espresso beans after a 22 mile bike ride. I feel strong and fit in my 50s and just eat when I'm hungry. Agree with previous posters that a lot of it is genetics. If the weight comes eventually, I'll just be a bit heavier before I starve myself. |
I agree with you, but it can’t just be genetics. I am the one who posted about CrossFit, and I am turning 51 this week. I do CrossFit in addition to running 12 miles (recently), and playing 1.5 hours of a soccer game all summer. Your bike ride etc is goal oriented and discipline. I love reaching a goal even though the training sucks sometimes. |
So eat grains and fruits only 3-4 days a week? |
Haha I love the humour. |
how do you have time to go for walks or make it through 90 minutes of yoga? Aren't you busy in the bathroom peeing? This is straight up disordered. |
I really hope so, because otherwise it’s disturbing as hell. |
Indeed. |
I think this is the miso soup lady from my birthing class 11 years ago. She wanted to sip miso during her labor. Hey! If it’s you, hope you are doing well, miso! |
She doesn’t have to work. |
Thank goodness. I’m amazed she can get out of bed. |
I’m so frustrated by the middle aged belly. I’m 51 and was thin all my life with a perfectly flat stomach and now have a Mrs clause jelly belly between my pubic bones and belly button.
I’ve started calorie counting and am usually at about 1500 calories give or take 200. I usually walk about 3 miles a day. Yesterday I walked five miles and ate: Coffee with low fat milk for breakfast Lunch — enormous arugula salad with almonds, oranges, tofu, carrots Dinner — red pepper stuffed with ground beef, carrots, brown rice, black beans and cheese. Homemade bread pudding for dessert. I’ve been calorie tracking for two weeks now and the apps say I should be losing weight but I haven’t lost even a pound! I ate so much all through my twenties and thirties—endless cheese, pasta, pastries, sandwiches, burgers, milk shakes, ice cream almost every day….and was totally thin. It’s like I had an alien body switch at age 47. |
Just be grateful you had those years. Many of us did not! |
