At the very least, people in high places, and probably in low ones as well, need to have thought through the possibilities. Lots of Democrats, and this comes up here all the time, rationalize shutting down all thought and discussion by claiming to have a grasp of possibilities. It’s laughably bad! |
That is what elections are for. If you vote for trump over Biden, I don't know what to tell you. |
This dislike of Harris strike me as very similar as the feelings of the anti-HRC crowd. Frankly, I think HRC lost bc she did not lean into the progressive base that Sanders had ignited and her choice of a southern white man as VP cemented her centrist position. If she has selected Cory Booker I think history would have been different. As for Biden, he’s not going anywhere. I’m completely turned off by his support for Israel’s outsized response in Gaza. But if the other option is Trump I will hold my nose and do it. |
Please link the poll showing Michelle as Joe’s closest contender. |

It's obviously never occurred to some of you that if Biden didn't support Israel, he'd be pissing off other Democrats. Hamas declared war on Israel with the terror attacks What was Israel supposed to do? Bomb a few buildings and then wait for the next terror attack?
And Biden has had a restraining effect on the Israeli response in Gaza, which is probably coming to an end (the destruction phase, at least) pretty soon. It could have been much harsher. The real challenge is what happens next. All in all, I score Biden very well on how an American president should have handled the Gazan situation. |
Yup, keep funding both sides. Oldest trick in the book! |
This is such a terrible argument. Polling is always about name recognition, and the President will always have greater name recognition than an unannounced primary challenger. However, IF Biden were to step aside, there would quickly be a high-profile Democratic challenger, and they would instantly poll at or above Biden's level. My guess is that they would then start to climb, because so many people want a non-Trump candidate who isn't geriatric. |
The other thing that apparently hasn't occurred to most folks here is that plenty of this agitation against President Biden has been planted on social media by bad actors trying to get the US to tear itself apart. Most likely Russia, China, and Iran. Who would benefit most from Trump's return to power and American dysfunction? |
You know what also about name recognition besides polling? Voting. |
Who? Name them. Because none of Newsome, Harris, Whitmer, Bashear or anyone else comes close. |
Newsom, who is floated in some circles, would be a disaster. Two years ago, California had a budget surplus of $97.5 Billion. Today, they are looking at a budget deficit of $73 Billion. He has somehow managed to make over $170 Billion disappear. And, this is just the budget mismanagement. He has done so much more damage to CA. |
| So long as KJP remains in her office, I am content the government is being run by competent deep thinkers. |
How about AOC? |
She is a, what, third term congressperson with very little congressional leadership but a lot of TV time. She has basically ZERO qualification to be a serious candidate for the presidency. And I am a big AOC fan. |
