Unfortunately, those are the two choices: both are senile, both have senior moments, but only one doesn't read intelligent reports and needs picture books to understand anything; kowtows to dictators and wants to be a dictator himself (Trump).

Senile boomer, you need to think about these problems much more broadly and much deeply. The framing of ‘just two choices’ ruins the conversation. If you don’t figure that out and engage in a better way, you risk others harnessing the moment for their ends which might result in something much worse.

Dp- grow the F up. If you want something else do the work. Start at the grass roots and do the work. Quit asking to jump in on the group project that you contributed nothing to, the morning it’s due.

Clearly you are the one who needs to grow up. Avoiding the harsh realities of the recent past is why we’re here. If you think we’re actually fighting authoritarianism, calling out Biden (who *clearly* should be removed!) and hastening new political dynamics is the obvious way forward.

The reality of the recent past is that Biden beat Trump and HRC did not. Reality that.

Folks, if Trump drops dead or somehow winds up in jail, Republicans can nominate Haley. And I think she would soundly defeat Biden. I think Dems are screwed if Haley is the nominee.

I feel like they should at least have someone waiting in the wings for that scenario. It's not entirely implausible.

As a democrat, I don’t fear Haley as president. I fear a second Trump term. If Trump drops dead and Haley is the nominee, the race would be closer, and if Haley won, it wouldn’t be catastrophic.

That said I don’t think Haley would win a general election. Voters continue to reject republicans for overturning Roe v wade and for the damage Trump has done to the party.

I do think Dems need a better back up plan for Biden than Kamala Harris though.

In the latest polls, Haley beats Biden by 19 points. It would be a landslide.

But Haley is not going to be the nominee. It will be Trump vs Biden.

And if you include third parties - Kennedy etc - Trump wins very easily. Presently, roughly 15-20 percent of Americans are intending to vote third party. And that hurts Biden a lot more.

It's his age. That's the main thing. Really stupid idea for Democrats to roll with a rapidly declining man who will be 86 (!) in a second term. And no one has any faith in Kamala Harris.

Totally agree with PP. it is mortifying to have a man in his 80s like Biden at the helm. Kamala does not make it any better.

One good thing Biden has going for him is another rapidly declining elderly person that is also unhinged is his very likely competition from the other major party. Say what you want about Biden but he does have a chance if the GOP is stupid enough to nominate Trump.

Yet democrats keep winning midterm and special elections, and the polls keep fear mongering. Polls haven’t exactly been right in the last few election cycles. Theyre just one data point.

Why don’t you fault the GOP for choosing Trump again? Why do the Democrats have to clean up everything for you?

Lots of anti maga groups and anti trump. Any anti Biden, from within Democratic Party?

Let’s not be like the republicans who feared criticizing trump. Where’s the honest reflection and pivoting away from someone not fit for office.

Using the GOP much beloved “Democrat” epithet demonstrates you are either a troll or so deep in MAGA world that you do not recognize your own party’s talking points.

I’m OP going through responses now. Ha! It is true that I don’t recognize the maga talking points because I’m not maga but I do believe that the aim of both parties is pretty much to maintain the status quo for the ruling and wealthy class. They change a few things to make people feel like they are fighting for good against evil but they are toying with us. by pitting us against each other, we are a distracted proletariat. Dems and repubs have more in common than not. If you don’t believe that, you haven’t reached out over the aisle. That’s passé anyway in cancel culture.

Don’t worry, Biden will be replaced by the party under one pretext or the other very soon. He will not be the nominee.

Not sure about Trump. They have a primary going on and it looks like he will get nominated

Had the GOP convicted Trump after he fomented an insurrection we would be here. Biden is only running because he beat Trump once and doesn’t want to have Dem infighting when we all need to pull together to squash the MAGA authoritarian movement. I don’t think people realize how serious this election is to keeping a democracy. This isn’t about policy, it’s about halting us slipping into authoritarianism.

Read the book “How Democracies Die.” We’re darned close

The Dems need a plan, and it shouldn't be "nlt trump." They lost Michigan with the support for the Israeli war, black voters are leaving, and the border is a mess.

I don't to accept it but Joe has to go.
