What Does FCPS Do with Excess Capacity at Herndon HS

Then shift some of the Chantilly kids to Oakton.

Shift some Westfield kids to Centreville.

Leave everyone else alone. We need to fix the western Fairfax issues.

Huh? Which Chantilly kids should get moved to Oakton if you move Franklin Farm kids to Herndon? I can't think of any neighborhoods in which that would make a lick of sense.

The OP raises a valid question and as far as I can tell the Langley mom(s) just tries to divert attention from the issue through personal attacks.

So what is the best use of the additional seats at Herndon?

Franklin middle school. Send those kids to Oakton. There’s also a sliver that go to Carson and then Oakton.

So send your kids there.

Seems like an easy solution! Then PP won't have to fret about this any longer.

Lame response.

Insightful response. Seems directly relevant to me. If you’re so concerned about empty seats, it’s an obvious answer. Or do you not want other people arbitrarily meddling in where your kids go to school?

You really are an idiot. The answer to an inefficient use of capital resources isn’t more inefficiency.

DP. Someone's an idiot here, but it isn't the PP. Tell us - where do your kids go to school?

Which is a fair concern. They paid for their houses and it sucks to be re-districted.

But it's also really crappy to hate on people for wanting the same quality schools for their own kids.

None of what you're saying makes sense. Please tell us what school your kids attend and why you are fixated on sending kids who aren't your own to Herndon HS.

I want high quality schools for all FCPS kids, but I just find it so revolting that people get so amped up wanting to stick it to Forestville students.

DP, but not much sympathy for the argument that it’s “sticking it” to Forestville kids if they attend schools significantly closer to their homes. They only ended up at Cooper and Langley because the Herndon schools were overcrowded 30 years ago, and now they have capacity again.

People typically want to stay put, but if anything is “revolting” it’s how some posters act like boundary changes that might affect Langley are punitive, but a matter of necessity and efficiency for everyone else.

Where do your kids go to school? Funny how you never answer this question.

I’m asking you a valid question, and you are responding like a pre-teen. I’m genuinely interested, where do your kids go? Are you afraid to be exposed as a hypocrite?

Not that poster, but the only valid question is the one posed in the OP - how should FCPS best make use of the hundreds of surplus seats now at Herndon?

Of course, that’s your opinion. I’m interested in the motives of people who ask your purportedly “valid question”.

So posters tell you where their kids go or will go, and you’ll decide their “motives” from that data point? That’s exactly why we have no interest in engaging with you on your terms.

DP - Do you even hear yourself? You refuse to tell us where your kids go, yet you feel it's your right to decide where OTHER kids go to school. No. Unless you tell the truth about what school your kids attend, your opinion about other people's kids is completely irrelevant.

Then don’t. That’s fine. I’m here to call out the blatant hypocrisy that exists in your argument. I’ll ask it again, will you tell us where your kids go?

Didn’t think so.

These people are so, so transparent. Same concern troll starting a different thread every week about the same "concern."

Who is talking about everyone else? I just care about my kids and their education. I don’t give two hoots about where your kids go, and I’m assuming you chose where to live based on where you want them to go, right?

“I just care about me and I don’t care about anyone else at all, unless I’ve convinced myself that an entirely rational decision made in the ordinary course of administering a $3B school system that might affect them somehow threatens me.”

DP. You are clearly the one feeling threatened by where other people's kids go to school. The bitterness and resentment just drips from your posts. How does Herndon having capacity affect you in any way? Why don't you apply for a transfer and send your own kids there?

Sputter away.

Crickets on your kids school. So incredibly surprising.

No one here answers to you, even if you pretend everyone else is the hired help.

DP. Grow up. You're making a fool out of yourself by throwing a tantrum about kids that don't even affect you or touch your life in any way, shape, or form. And the PP is right - why won't you tell us what school your kids go to?

Very much so.

And constantly trying to silence people who’d like to see money efficiently spent, resources effectively used, and other schools not go down the toilet.

Concern troll is very, very concerned. But not concerned enough to send her own kids to Herndon! I wonder why...

You don’t get to decide whose opinions matter and whose don’t, honey.

Figuring out how to make the best use of hundreds of now-available seats at Herndon is an entirely appropriate question to discuss on this forum and, for that matter, anywhere else.

No offense but it’s not the schools that are good, it’s the kids. If you redistrict Langley kids to another school, the other school will increase by that amount. Schools are such a tiny part of academic achievement (meaning they all teach roughly the same). It’s mostly parents.

Bingo. Thats exactly why considering how to efficiently use available space and minimize transportation costs where possible likely makes sense.
