My best friend’s son, who is an URM, graduated high school in 3 years bc he’s crazy smart and had a 4.3 weighted (don’t know SATs) was waitlisted after applying ED (or EA, whatever is first) and was waitlisted and never got off. It was his first choice by far. He wrote a letter of continued interest. Didn’t help.
We were stunned. It’s so hard. |
Also he comes from a rural part of southern Virginia and went to public so not from FCPS or anywhere in NOVA. |
| Thar is weird |
Yes, we moved from NOVA to NC for work a few years ago, and my DS got in with 4.4W and 1500 SAT. Deferred at NC State for engineering. |
I think the test optional hurts really smart minority kids the most. |
No other VA college publicly states this, and yet all VA colleges are doing the same thing. I’d rather have a school be transparent about it than pretend it’s not happening. Also, your kid was competing against kids with the same - or much better stats. This is not unusual, in any way. |
You trolls are idiotic. Sorry your kid didn’t get in. DP |
+1 Not sure why some get their noses out of joint re: VT. They practice holistic admissions, like the vast majority of other U.S. universities. And with that said, there are plenty of high stats, white, UMC kids admitted. |
Lots of great kids ARE getting in. Just maybe not yours. |
+100 My white male, high stats kid DID get in, as did several of his friends. The resentment is so over the top. |
+1 OP has got to be a troll. A 3.5 getting waitlisted is actually generous. |
+1 Plus… complaining with those stats about being waitlisted? Come on.
|
Based on their writing, I'm guessing English is not their first language and that may be a factor in their understanding of the situation. |
| You trolls are just too good. 😘 |
Sure. but this is a VT thread, so.. |
