The principal is right in punishing kids for disseminating videos taken in school. She’s also on solid legal ground.
Mooney, on the other hand, went too far with threatening to punish kids for taking videos off school grounds and outside of school hours. |
| Now the principal posted a picture on twitter of the kid that got punched with a sign that says "forgive". Not sure what is going on here, a special needs kid got punched out and then is supposed to forgive the kid that attacked him? |
She also called it a teachable moment so ask yourself what the lesson is. My take is "mcps will stick autistic students in the same school as non special needs students without any protection or diversity training for the other students and then when they're victimized, we will parade them around in front of the cameras to show the world that they can suck it up " Patronizing and gross. |
That is horrific. Do not forgive. Expel the attacker. |
| Now she post on Instagram with the caption #makethisgoviral and seems the mayor of gaithersburg thinks it’s great. I’m disgusted with this. |
Imagine it was any other "other" who was attacked and they paraded them out with a "forgive" sign. People would riot. |
| The principal should go around with a sign that reads "I exploit my autistic students for likes" sign. |

The video I saw didn’t involve anyone getting “punched out.” Perhaps there’s a longer version I didn’t see?
I assume the football player holding the other end of the banner is the other student who was involved in the altercation? The principal is treating this like two kids who got into a fight are taking responsibility for their actions, have worked out some understanding, and no longer have a beef. Everyone else is exploiting the fact that (allegedly) one of the students has autism. I’m the parent of a high school student who is on the spectrum. It feels to me like posters who keep bringing up autism have their own agenda. |
The agenda is for autistic children to be understood and protected in school. I doubt the football player is the other party involved since he was a freshman andnthisnisna Varsity game. If you did not see the autistic kid get punched, I don't know what to tell you. The rest of us saw it. |
+1000 she’s bonker! |
Meant to say bonkers |
| If having the victim of violence hold up a sign saying FORGIVE while doing nothing about the root of the problem ain't RESTORATIVE JUSTICE folks, I don't know what is! |

I'm sorry you were picked last. |
