| This thread is disheartening. We are too busy, to full of ourselves, or to antisocial ti talk to people. |
Disagree. I enjoy talking to people, to some extent, but have figured out that the only people who call are the monologuers. They call because they want to talk at me, not have a conversation. I don't answer and send them a text later. The "conversation people" are happy to get together and talk there, so we do that. |
Neither are you, weird Boomer-sequel phone callers!!!!!!!!! Send a freaking text or email like a normal person in 2023. |
*Boomer-esque. Thanks, Autocorrect. |
You can cling to outdated ideas all you like, but most people aren’t going to check a “voicemail.” It’s not 1996. Just send a damn text or email. |
| Yes-- calls are not preferred. They make life more hectic. |
Is this just for personal calls or are you also not okay with your boss/colleagues calling? |
I see teens and twenty-somethings talking on the phone constantly. Everywhere they go, they're chatting and have their ear buds in. Seems like it's not really about what's current or normal. Some people, like you, just don't like talking on the phone. |
I turn off my text messages. If it’s important, you’ll call me. And if I haven’t had an online convo with you in the past year, I delete you from my contacts. Texts are for appt reminders and meet ups. I’ll get to your text when I get to it. It could sit there for a week. |
Agree. It takes me longer to formulate a text or email. |
+1 I see teens call each other and FaceTime frequently. Sometimes it’s nice to hear a friend’s voice or see their face. |
They are weak typists having never mastered a keyboard and spelling. |
Translation: I’ve found a way to rationalize my self importance. |
Thank you. A simple question or exchange could take all day if handled via email. |
| One thing that drives me up the wall is when people text me to call them. |
