Political Discussion
Here is the thing. If you agree hate and racism are wrong, but you are a republican, then you are in the same tent as the haters and racists. So you are the company you keep. If you don't want to be lumped in with them, then you need to find a different tribe, because currently you and they are in the same one. So...either you actually are fine with being associated with them, or you are fine being complicit with them. Neither is a good look. |
Wrong. The actual racists, white nationalists and xenophones are in the republican party. They used to be democrats until Lyndon Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act. But at that point and through the 1990's, the southern white racists combined with traditional conservatives, and along the way, picked up the Evangelicals and fundamentalist Christians to combine into the modern GOP - a party built on guns, hate and a moral purity that fits THEIR view of America. So if you want to be lumped in with what you are referring to as "them" then you need to be calling out the racism and misogyny. The GOP is no longer "conservative" - the word has been hijacked. Actual conservatism doesn't support book banning, imposition of moral values, activist judges, persecuting private enterprise over "values" or wild economic policies that drive debt and deficit spending, yet these are all things that happen under the modern GOP. Maybe give it a little thought before you jump on the Democrats for calling it out. For me, I used to be a fiscal conservative, social liberal (you know, let people live how they want) but my GOP left me a long time ago, and given where it is now, I would never vote for the GOP again without a total flushing of the current party. There is no fiscal conservatism in the modern GOP - in fact, the debt and deficit spending the GDP and other metrics have been totally abused by the Bush's and Trump. Nope, the Democrats, believe or not, are a better steward of our economy, better for our standing abroad and better for civil rights for all Americans, no matter how much the GOP in its current state wants to claim otherwise. |
TL;DR After the first sentence..... What I stated is very accurate: "Democrats call people names with whom they disagree." You only need to read the threads on this site. A Republicans takes a conservative stance on something and some liberal comes back with "racist." They are calling a person whom they have never met a racist simply because of their views. Even when those views have NOTHING to do with race. I have seen it on here repeatedly and have even been called one myself. It is ludicrous. They call Republicans "white nationalists" when they believe that the priorities of Americans should be considered First when it comes to national policy decisions. Another ridiculous attempt at demeaning others. Tuberville is simply calling out all the liberals who love to throw around names for others merely because they disagree with them. This is what the liberals have been doing for the past I don't know how many years and it is nothing more than an attempt to shut down discussion and deflect from the fact that they have no coherent argument. |
WHITE AMERICANS and you forgot about the part where the great multicultural heritage and history of the US is whitewashed (literally) by what these people want our kids to learn, or not learn, about the founding and growth of our country, how institutional racism and sexism impacts the development and laid the foundation for where we are today. You are illustrating the point by your words or lack of vision for living in anyone else's shoes. |
Total Bull$hit. Just because we don't want our kids to learn about the fake history promoted by the 1619 project doesn't mean history is being whitewashed. And, the real whitewashing is happening when the mob forces cities and officials to remove statues commemorating our history. What benefit is it to remove a statue of Lincoln or of Theodore Roosevelt? |
DP. You are wrong, Tuberville does not convey this, and and are whitewashing the actual racism that still persists in America. |
Cute how you use this phony outrage as cover for the sads you have over the tearing down of all of the cheap, mass produced statues of Confederates that were put up during the height of Jim Crow and the KKK. |
How old are you? "Sads?" I will also point out that you failed to respond to the actual substance of the post. Instead, you came back with a snarky retort that adds nothing. And, you are actually proving Tuberville's point. |

Tommy? Come on! Is this really a surprise. He's just continuing in a tradition for southern lawmakers. The semi-change is that he says it outloud and no one in his party makes a peep. All of you defending him, just know that as recently as 10 years ago, he would have gotten called out for this nonsense by members of his own party.
Tommy's just a symptom of a decaying GOP. |
We call people with Europe heritage white. That includes the Argentina people. We would call the people on Telemundo Spanish channel white, while we call others just Mexican 墨西哥人 |
Have you ever seen one? They're swarthy. |
English, Germans, and French. |
"I support a guy who supports Nazi and now people are calling me a Nazi. That's so unfair!" |
And Catholic. |
Please. I know Mexicans with lighter skin than Italians. |
