I would insist that your husband go back to the same barber and get the same haircut for himself as a punishment for his behavior.

x2. If I'm your husband, the first time you "punish" me, I'm having you served.

Hard to imagine how boring your lives are with this lack of a sense of humor.

Op - what happened was he basically did not cut the top (long and wavy and thick) but buzzed the sides. But however you are imagining that might look cool - it looks completely insane. It could be easily fixed but now 7 yo likes it. It’s not a style it’s like a sort of reverse mullet

Lol oh no is it this

Op - I wish it was that!
It looks a bit like a worse version of number 20 from this https://hairstylecamp.com/men-curly-taper-fades/

Is your son about to be a ring bearer soon? If not, so what...

LOL NP but my husband took my 3yo for a hair cut a few weeks before he was ring bearer in his aunt’s wedding. 3yo has this thick, wavy hair, and DH basically got him a Marine cut. I was so mad! It made him look much older. Luckily it grew in somewhat by the wedding.

Mad at dh - not bc it’s too short - but bc it is a viral level of nuts and he let him leave the barber with it and he now likes it so we can do nothing

Why do you care so much about what a 7 year old looks like? You are going to have a rough time with the teen years if you get a rebellious or emo or goth kid.

If mom keeps this up the kid will come home with a face tattoo and Prince Albert when he’s a teenager.

I’m with you!

I kept scrolling to see what the shock was all about and then realized that it looks like hair from when I was in high school and it actually looks cool!

I think it’s really cute but I was in college when Tears fit Fears came out. Good times

This is THE cut right now. Your 7-year-old is trendy and stylish. Congrats. Apologize to DH.

Go to the link OP posted on the 1st or 2nd page. It has a lot of examples. Here's one with a shorter top

Children have every right to decide what they do with their own body. You must respect a childes choices.

SO your kid got his hair cut, and likes it.

This is, or should be, a non issue. Lighten up, Francis.

My DH once buzzed our kid’s hair so short he looked like a cancer patient. It was mortifying and honestly an affront to real cancer patients.

OP, sounds like your kid has an involved father who spent time with the kid and they have a nice memory of this. Let it go. Hairstyles are just hideous these days anyway.

To give you context: my MIL low-key disappeared in the house with my 4 year old son a few years back and when he reappeared she had 'trimmed his bangs'.... he had a shaggy big mop previously and now had a Little Lord Fauntleroy. Kid you not. My DH's eyes bulged and he started deep breathing so I knew I didn't even need to address it. We laugh about it now but it was pretty embarrassing being seen with him- I ended up trimming the rest within a couple days and advising her that 'bangs are a ratio kind of thing' as even she had realized at that point that she had given him a victorian princess haircut.
