Biden as defender of “freedom” - how do we think this will go?

also saw Abbott reference the murder of some "illegal immigrants," to which I guess we could say thanks for the heads-up, "cripple"

but apart from that, I wonder if the "normal people" referenced earlier feel like the Democrats are the ones telling people they can think what they like, do what they like (as long as not harming others and yes, I know abortion is a glaring exception), speak their mind, and protect their families? because these are all things that the "normal people" I've been around consider important freedoms - not the "freedom" to make $15 an hour mopping floors

it's hard to filter out all the stupidity on the Internet but my impression, at a very high level, is that one party spends a lot more effort than the other these days on enforcing social conformity, and it's not the Republicans - and I'm not a Republican, and never voted for one in my life - Scout's Honor! I am one of the many millions who held my nose and voted for a guy who could barely put a sentence together for the sole reason that he wasn't trying to light forest fires every single day, even if he occasionally lights some by accident

and I would hate to see the Dems F it up next summer

are you kidding? The republicans are forcing a fundamentalist Christian society on a country that is not supposed to be of any specific religion. Talk about imposing conformity.

the only issue that supports that viewpoint is abortion and that's now at the state level, not the federal

tell me, do you think more meetings these days include land acknowledgements and pronoun discussions, or the Lord's Prayer?

It’s DeSantis who’s doing that, dear.

Actually, no.
He is simply having Disney abide by the same rules and laws as all other companies.

Nope, he is trying to undo the contract that brought Disney to Florida in the first place because he bis a snowflake where gayness is concerned.

You keep saying this. Explain how you see this playing out.
Because, I can tell you...... "fundamentalist Christians" are not occupying seats in government, leadership at universities, positions in Big Tech, roles in mainstream media, or any other position with power.

And, while we are at it. Define "fundamentalist Christians." I think this is a term you are using as a slur when I don't think you know what the hell you are talking about.

we had one as VP last time

weirdly, there was no mandatory prayer, and not even any creationism rammed into schools (thankfully - not to say there won't be down the line, in which case I would very much oppose it)

Disney currently pays the same property taxes as every other landowner in Florida AND provides a ton of its own services that are not provided by the state despite Disney being Florida’s largest taxpayer.

Moving the goalposts I see. The Texas legislature just passed a bill mandating prayer in public schools.

Does this include, say, freedom to practice one’s religion?

Freedom to vaccinate one’s own body, or not, as one prefers?

Freedom to speak as one likes, and not be forced to adopt words and concepts invented in the last 5 nanoseconds of human history?

Freedom from mandatory political indoctrination sessions at work?

I would really hate to see Trump Part Deux, but I can see this messaging backfiring big time. Personally I would have liked to see the focus be on “stability” because I think that’s what got Joe 95% of his votes last time.

Where is freedom of religion being curtailed?

Mandatory vaccination with exceptions has long been the law of the land and is safe and effective.

Where is freedom of speech being curtailed or forced by the government?

Where is there mandatory political indoctrination at work that violates your Constitutional or civil rights?

Your complaints are a list of right wing talking points. Good luck with that.

The most important freedom. Taxes literally make people work 2/5 of the year for free.

I don't see that in the Bill of Rights either

see how much money we all make without roads and cops

we would all like to pay less taxes, just as we might like to put fewer people in jail, but that doesn't mean that the ideal is zero
