Not surprised but I also hate this wishy washy language. “Reasonably believe’ to me means ‘as long as the psychopathic murderer says they felt threatened, they are innocent’. You could claim all sorts of crap and get away with it.

“Reasonably” in the law means an objective standard not a subjective one — would a reasonable person in that circumstance feel endangered. The problem is that “reasonable” is judged after the fact, by a jury who may also be crazy yahoos. Also, even if the jury is good and the guy gets Congo it’s, that doesn’t help the person who has been shot. These laws are just awful and pretty much only supported by racist gun nuts like the guy who shot Trayvon Martin. I would not want to live in a stand your group state and definitely not if I were a black person.

Everyone in here is showing racism by the comments "white man with a gun". Who cares if the person is person responsible is purple. The point of this story (as per what was posted) should be a young teen was shot trying to pick up siblings at the wrong address. The story only propels when race is brought into it, and by reading the prior comments, none of you are any better.

NP and I understand your position. I do think it is impossible to remove race from this equation. I do not think this man would have shot a white 16 year old boy knocking on his door. I do not think he would have shot a white 16 year old girl knocking on his door. I am uncertain about a black 16 year old girl. But feel very certain the race and gender of Ralph was the reason he was shot.
