If a black homeowner shot a white teen, I somehow don’t think we’d all be told to “wait” with our outrage. And before it’s even asked, yes I’d be equally upset if the races are reversed because I think shooting someone for ringing your doorbell is freaking psychopathic behavior. Even taking the race element out altogether, this shows what a country of gun loons we have become. The wannabe vigilante/powerless male with a gun has become an emblem of American culture.

NP. Thank you for this link. I didn't know about this at the time. We hosted foreign exchange students when I was in high school and I cannot imagine something so horrible.

But this shooting was the impetus for the assault weapon ban and stricter controls of handguns. This shooting changed the United States and saved lives.
