I just bought my daughter some Sambas about 3 weeks ago. I don’t love them but she’s happy. My other daughter has the platform converse (not the extra chunky ugly hiking ones, the more classic ones). She’s also happy. We saw a lot of both in Paris last week and I see a ton of them in nyc where we live. |
Where did you get the Sambas for your daughter/what's her size? |
Found a pair at tj maxx for $40. -Middle aged woman trying to find her style post-CoVid. |
| Just get some Keds and call it a day. |

I would rather just create my own "style" and wear what suits me. I have an arthritis bump on one big toe due to a sports injury (hallux rigidus) and can't wear 90% of shoes as they are too tight in the forefoot. I find some New Balance styles that are fine as they come in wider widths. My "dress" plain white ones that I love are from France. They are light, I hate platforms and don't dig in the back on my ankle so not too low or high at that point on my foot. Keds cut into my ankle and the Keds wides don't have enough volume for my toe.

+1 (STAN Smiths). They also come in a ton of other tag colors. I chose navy. |
Nice. Classic Tretorn. |
Third poster, actually! It's STAN Smith, people! And they're classic - never out of style. |
Those are hideous. |
I have the navy tag ones too. I replaced the insoles with superfeet insoles - made them much more walkable. |
Adidas online, their website. She wears a 9 I think but they had almost all sizes available. |
"Stan Smith" is not incorrect...that's literally how it appears ON ADIDAS' WEBSITE. |
| I’m a teacher and one of the dorky math teachers at my school has worn Sambas forever. Yesterday I saw him in them while they’re currently sold out everywhere and thought, touché. Your time in the sun is now. |
| I am very normally a dress now you wanna dress kind of person (and I do wear “young” clothing if I like it) but something about platform sneakers screams teen girl to me. I just can’t get past it. |
No - three PPs have referred to him as "SAM Smith" and we were correcting them to "STAN." DP |
