working together like the Paris agreement. National standards here backed by federal dollars. use county dollars for county programs |
Hahaha. You have no clue about how the demographics are changing in this county and especially in the expensive parts. |
The problem with Bethesda parking is they're way too zealous about enforceent. During the week, you have to pay for parking until 10pm. What other place has paid parking going on until that late?
The cost to park isnt' crazy, but if you overstay the slightest bit, you get a ticket and that's $50+. So, I can go out for dinner toinght and pay for parking in Bethesda, or go basically anywhere else in the area and public parking is free in the evenings. |
I wrote a post about this on Twitter and Facebook and decided to turn it into a full fledged articles with sources, links and more information.
"Taxes Up, Services Down: Why Accountability Matters More Than Ever" https://moderatelymoco.com/taxes-up-services-down-why-accountability-matters-more-than-ever/ - Moderately MOCO |
All of the fines are too high. It’s an equity issue. |
Once I’m ready for a new house, I’ll definitely be looking outside moco. Sad what it has come to. |
Mink and Jawando are introducing a recordation tax increase bill on Tuesday.
These people have lost their minds |
Maybe some of the new revenue could be used for an economic development plan. I doubt it though. |
That's the thing, right? I'm all for safety nets, but they should be boosting the economy to pay for them. Not just increasing taxes. That further stagnates things. Nobody has a real plan to create jobs that provide today's younger workers a way up the ladder. |
MoCo homestead - all got $692 off the bill. Assessment could be 1m or less than 100k. No income submission and it was a flat amount on owner occupied. >assessed at 1m the county effective rate for owner occupied was 92.23 and 99.15 for an investment property or any non owner occupied. >assessed at 100k the county effective rate for owner occupied was 29.95 and 99.15 for an investment property or any non owner occupied Changes in homestead require submitted and approved Homestead Applications. https://mocoshow.com/blog/residential-property-owners-must-have-approved-homestead-application-on-file-to-be-eligible-for-692-montgomery-property-tax-credit/ You can't just look at the base moco rate and not consider what revenue rolls in and actual rates without looking at homestead. |
MoCo is already there |
The $692 is not the Homestead Tax Credit, but instead the Income Tax Offset Credit (ITOC). Property owners must have applied for the Homestead Tax Credit to receive the ITOC. |
I love how they classify this trash as a '10 cent increase', when in reality they're calling for a 10.2% increase. That's massive. |
Yes-I get it. The $692 ITOC is paid by a credit on property taxes for owner occupied units and is not determined by income. It reduces the amount of property tax bills for owner occupied units so if you rent or have investment property you don't get the $692 per unit. Bottom line is what has to paid in property tax and all the possible credits related to having the homestead. |
Oh, you mean the people who wanted to live in a suburb??? |
