Wouldn’t have done that, but good luck!

Accepting BVR K. Declining Sidwell and GDS. New parent reception today sealed the deal. The stuffiness I was expecting to feel was absent and it seems to be ideal for very young children. Clear messages and positive energy all around!

No one is asking you and our financial calculations and school visits, graduation statistics helped us form our decision. If you wouldn't have done "that" then good for you.

We were there too, for prek! Debating between BVR and NPS but BVR was great today!

You and your child did a lot of work for that outcome but you might make some waitlisted happy if others do the same

Schools accept a specific number of students knowing s percentage will accept. It is not one declines and one gets off the waitlist. Many will have to decline before they go to the waitlist.

You’ll be happier at Landon.

what made you change your mind and stick with public?

Neither private seemed like a great fit for our DC or our family, and as we seriously considered the cost and pros/cons, it weighed towards public. Burke is lovely but our kid is sporty and was not thrilled with Burke's athletics. Burke's academic offerings did not seem $45K/year better than J-R. St John's athletic facilities are great but for our kid's favorite sport, J-R plus travel will be good. Our kid was not accepted for the St John's honors program, so we'd rather support DC to do their very best at J-R, take APs, and tutor as needed.

I hope you reconsider for your kid’s sake. The social emotional environment is much better at SJC. Your kid can still excel outside of Scholars.

Fascinating. I would have seen Good Counsel and Prep as two to choose between, and then Bullis and Landon. Bullis and Prep have very different student bodies.

This is nice to hear. We’re waitlisted for Potomac and accepted at Landon. I think my kid will be happier at Landon, but part of me was hoping for Potomac.

You know about the BCC bathroom drug busts, right? You’re heading for more social emotional issues with BCC, but yes, your kid will get into a better college if they come out on top.
