Of course. This is annual thread from folks who don't understand that schools accept more people than they have spots and those who wishfully believe that a kid turning down School X means they'll get off the waiting pool.

No, most of us just find it interesting to see what people choose

+1. It is helpful to hear how others choose, and I have added a school or two that I wasn’t considering to our list as a result. It helps in casting a wide net.

It would be great to hear the grade if you are willing to share and the reason.

I'm assuming obviously if offered a spot at Sidwell you'd take that.

If you don’t want to specify exact grade - maybe specify middle school, late elementary, Etc.

Anyone having a really hard time deciding?

Enrolling at Beauvoir.

WL at SFS and GDS but will not stay on.

Smart to have applied to so many schools.

Unless you have a major hook, you better apply to a wide variety.

That's probably good advice.

But it's also true that at some schools it's quite important that you make it clear (credibly) that they are your number one choice and that if accepted your DC will attend.

If they sense or know you are casting a wide net and that their chances of getting your DC to enroll if accepted are unknown, they will weigh that in their decision.

So casting a wide net is a two-edged sword.

Your assumption is very provincial. Obviously.

I agree but for those of us applying for FA and/or without an acceptable-to-us public option it isn't worth the risk of putting all our eggs in one basket.

Just telling it like it is...

NP. We would not accept (or apply to) Sidwell. Incorrect assumption. Prefer Cathedral, GDS, Potomac, or our public.
