Boy oh boy, could my DH write a book about this part ( I am not a "mail order bride", just a recent immigrant).

My DH has to deal with my culture's way of dealing with extended family. They are at my place all the time. They stop by unannounced, they spend the weekends with us, we invite relatives to live with us when they just get here and need a place to stay until they land on their feet etc. His family is much more hands off. It's a lot for an introvert like him.

Not every woman in Bangkok is a prostitute. I took a trip to a large Asian country, and my Bumble exploded with matches. Two women I chatted with on the app wanted money but none of my dates wanted money or a green card. I had about a dozen dates, and careers included: doctor, business owner, scientist, economist, grad student, professor, and single mom.

Every date turned out to be a nice woman and also unlike dating in DC, I actually had fun on my dates, and learned something on every date.

No. There is always a price to be paid either way.

I posted earlier, more of my female friends are marrying Europeans and moving to their countries; that sweet health care, free or low cost University for their kids, and lots of vacation can't be beat. They aren't jealous of thai hotties.

Smarter American women are also broadening their options.

People jumped straight to extremes here. What I see more of is white guys who are probably 3s or 4s (nerdy, overweight, or otherwise awkward) ending up with Asians that are more like 6s or 7s.

I did some. But it's still a huge culture shock for him. We talk about my family's ins and outs and try to limit it some.

I have learned to accept and love his family and not judge them for being too distant.i find their relationships to be uncomfortable and awkward. But I love and respect them.

I’ve seen American couples like this too. Wife is hot, husband - meh but has money and vice versa husband- 9, wife - 4 but with a great career, has money, more stable. Average American dudes can offer a quick path to u.s. citizenship. That makes them more attractive to women in some countries who want to escape for some reason.

I would say other than the passport, the rest of the world considers dating most Americans to be settling

What a weird thing to say. I am an American woman married into a SE Asian family, and it’s treated as a major prestigious accomplishment by my husband and his other cousins who managed to marry women of European descent. Now of course I think it’s creepy by the idea they aren’t interested in Americans?? Absurd.

This isn't surprising at all. Overall, much better personalities, more spontaneous, much less dysfunction, dates aren't interviews, etc. And no need to present an excel spreadsheet in advance for approval of date logistics.

Plastic surgery is truly industrialized in Columbia. Agree on Ukrainian but Russian, Polish and Serbian are just as attractive. Just different personalities (Russian assertive KGBs, Ukrainian optimistic energizers, Polish introvert and quiet, Serbian conjugate to men).
