It was no where near as bad as these people on twitter are making it out to be
Yes he stumbled a little more than the average politician during a debate but all things considered having had a stroke not long ago he did really well

Nonetheless no I wouldn’t vote for him at this time. Having a stroke has physical and cognitive side effects. It is possible that with the passage of time both improve but it’s not a given. There is also quite a bit of follow up medical appts and monitoring. And once a person has a stroke they are far more likely to suffer another. He needs to put time and effort into healing and that is where his energy will eventually be needed. He can continue to push himself but he will likely burn out it worse suffer another stroke. I know someone who struggled with aphasia after a stroke. It took a few months to get back to a level where he didn’t have to struggle for the most common words and about a year out, he only struggled if he became very tired. It didn’t go away completely it just improved.

Members of Congress get cancer and go out for months for treatment & recovery….including multiple bouts of cancer. Steve Scalise was shot and out of commission for months. Tons of members of congress have serious medical conditions that require ongoing care, including Senator McConnell.

Fetterman will be fine and improve with time. He will have doctors in both DC and PA helping with ongoing speech therapy.

This is truly a nothingburger. The guy isn’t a vegetable, he can think and write. Debate and speech is mostly dead in the Senate.

Why are you comparing cancer or physical disabilities to mental impairment? Of course we aren't going to kick someone out of the Senate for physical injuries or disabilities. The truth is nobody, except perhaps him, knows his full condition, and the extent of actual damage. He may recover further, or he many not.

Because people in this thread are saying he will miss work due to treatments. It's a shoddy argument.

We already know a significant portion of members of Congress have mental health issues and old age impairments. It's not clear to me why Fetterman is judged differently, especially because he's still fairly young and can make a full recovery.

I am also a PA resident and a moderate Dem. My friends are still voting for Fetterman (although I haven’t spoken to any tonight). I cannot vote for Oz so I am begrudgingly voting for Fetterman. He wasn’t my candidate in the primary - I thought Conor Lamb would have been a better general election candidate but he ran a terrible primary campaign.

I am also very worried about our Governor race. Even though Shapiro is up by a lot in the polls, I will not relax until Mastriano is defeated. It would be a very sad (and scary) day if he is elected.

And Trump won one election, so Fetterman has a chance.

Pretty funny seeing the MAGAs pretending to think that speaking coherently is some kind of qualification for political office.

Why do YOU think his speech tonight is an issue? I don’t think it will matter. Clearly you don’t support the man.

Due to his speech?? C’mon.

Agree that this didn't look as bad as it's being made out to be. And he'll (probably) continue to improve.

Not vote for him? Not voting for him is a vote for the other guy. So yes, I would vote for him at this time and in November.

I think you will be in good company.

Not seeing a problem. He spoke about the dignity of work.

What would Fetterman know about the dignity of work? Other than state politics he’s never had a job in his life

He’s leached off his family wealth his entire life.

But if those politicians were pro-abortion you’d be shouting “preach it!”, wouldn’t you?

This election (here and across the country) is about abortion. Whether Fetterman is hunting for words or not, Oz wants a politician to decide a woman's pregnancy.

It’s about abortion for about 7-10% of the electorate.

For the other 90% it’s about inflation, the economy, the price of gasoline, food, and everything else that costs 20-100% more than it did 3 years ago.

Both are top issues. Do you believe abortion will be a top issue over the economy for the general voter population in states where it is still legal? Some of this will probably hinge on whether voters believe the economy is good or bad right now.

Exactly no one (other than Joe Biden) thinks the economy is “good” right now. So let’s just do anyway with that whole canard right there, m’k?

As far as who abortion IS a priority issue for, OVER the economy, it’s not even close. Literally everyone is affected by the economy. Abortion? Nope. Only half the population can even have one. Of that half, half are opposed to it. That leaves 25% of voters, at best. Except it’s not even a relevant issue for many of that 25%, either. Remove those women who live in states where it will always be legal. Remove those women who are too old to care because they won’t need an abortion. Remove those women with the financial means to travel to another state if they need an abortion. Whet percentage do you now have left who see abortion as the primary issue of the election? Single-digits percentage.

This election is not about abortion for anyone besides the most strident, dedicated leftists.

Everyone else just wants to know if they’ll have a job and be able to put gas in the car next year.

NP but no, I don’t want any politicians involved in my personal medical decisions.

Frankly, even with his aphasia and his recent stroke, he still sounds far more coherent and intelligent than Herschel Walker.

I’m not a PA voter and lean conservative anyway (but Oz is just another hack) but to run someone who is facing a cognitive disability due to a stroke is cruel to Fetterman and disingenuous to the voters. The question would always be who’s really running the show and pulling the strings if he were to be elected.
