Avoid like the plague, seriously, unless your kid is… for lack of a better word, extremely white washed.

This is total BS - it's the most brown private around. Mostly blacks, asians.. go visit.. blondes are few and far between

Really? This shows that the racial and ethnic diversity is below average.

Where are you getting your data?

fluke? It has been ranked between 25 and 30 on USNWR for close to 30 years now. That is hardly a "fluke"

…are those people we’re supposed to know?

Yes. If you have a clue. What an ignorant response.

Wake Forest grads on overtime now… lol… imagine actually thinking your little-known regional school is actually some highly sought out top university. Lmao.

Yes and on every other reputable ranking it comes out between 65 and 70.

I think that DP was being facetious. Wake Forest is widely known for being extremely white. Not a good or bad thing, just how it is.

Forbes lists it at 74, WSJ/the Times list it at 64, Washington Monthly lists it at 70.

to be fair, as an alum - it is very white. I didn't think much about that while I was there. But the large majority of the students of color were football or basketball players. I do have several friends that I am connected to on social media who speak about the hidden racism there, which pains me because these are people I like and respect who were classmates of mine. I hate that their experience wasn't the same because of the color of their skin.

Honestly, this is why we are trying very hard to find a more diverse school for our children. They have grown up in a neighborhood/school where being white was actually the minority. My younger child just had a birthday party and one girl was white, one hispanic (mother from columbia) and the last indian. We love the diversity of this area and really hope that the colleges they choose have a much larger population of POC/1st gen than Wake did.

Don't get me wrong, Wake really is a great school and I enjoyed my 4 years and have a wonderful group of friends from there. But diversity is NOT its strong point.

The campus is gorgeous, sports events are fun and the education is very good.

Not sure why it doesn’t get the same respect as so many other schools at the same level.

I visited this summer and was very impressed . Beautiful place. Nice vibe.

This summer, when everything was under construction and covered by scaffolding.

Washington Monthky is hardly reputable, it)# the most nonsensical ranking I’ve ever seen,

The funny thing about this thread is no matter what the opinion is of the naysayers, Wake is a hot school right now. A lot of kids are attracted to its of good academics, nice weather, manageable size, social reputation, and top ranked sports.

GC friend in area is tied into the ebbs and flows of student interest - and 100% says sun belt schools are much more in vogue these days.

Top “hot” schools per friend - regardless of ranking - are Rice, Wake, Vandy, and Duke

kids seem to really like Wake
