Sorry your kid got rejected from Wake. But it was still a smart move to at least try to get in; yes, the school is every bit as great as you imagine.

Hahaha oh come on, you aren’t serious.

Nice! Thanks for confirming!!

I don’t think anyone imagines wake forest to be great. In fact, I don’t think anyone imagined anything about wake forest.

at 83k for this year , is it worth it?

It's ranked pretty high but acceptance rate 30%.

Something doesn't add up.

Seems very overrated.

when I went, the med school and law school were highly sought after (I worked in the law library junior and senior year). A huge portion of my freshman hallmates were pre-med or pre-law.

I don't know where the grad programs are almost 25 years later, but I have fellow alum friends with kids who have attended or are currently attending for undergrad. One already has a job offer from one of the top consulting companies after a summer internship and is planning to move to their Salt Lake City facility after she graduates in the spring.

I think the acceptance rate is higher because it is a more self-selected applicant pool than some others. To be fair, I think it is a more regional school.

And of course, when I attended, the all in cost was 1/4 of what it is now.

Some people on this board have a very weird vendetta against this school. Not sure why. It has been considered a top school in the country for years, whether you feel it is deserved or not. Even when it was a USNWR regional university, it was profiled in a book with a title about "Top 50 Colleges in the US".

My brown kid is considering Wake Forest. I am reading reviews online and it seems it is not a very diverse school. We are middle class with regular DC jobs. Thoughts?

Sorry for the awkward phrasing, typing on my phone.

Easier school to get in for a high ranked school but many better options.

The term "overrated school" is ridiculous to me since all "ratings" are arbitrary and subjective.

Why don't you say the truth, which is "I don't like this school as much as most people" since there is no objective measurement? That's both more honest and not insulting.

Oh, and maybe give some reasons. Easier to take you seriously with those. lol
