Post your Christmas cookie list for 2022

I use the oxo press too. Just the cheap plastic one. I used the recipe that came with it and they turn out great. Chilled dough is key. I kid you not, my 3 year old could press them himself and they were perfect. No need to overthink spritz cookies.

Making these- I add extra zest. Wedding cake cookies, too, probably. Xmas cookies are always more labor intensive that I anticipate.

Oh - love these. I might have to make them again this year.

I never make cookies because they all seem to start with using a stand mixer, which I don’t have. Do they still turn out well if I mix by hand? Maybe I will stick with the rolo pretzel things!

Love this…is it the $30 plastic one on Amazon?

A hand mixer works perfectly well.

You need chilled cookie sheets too.

Same….I want to make spritz. Recipes please and tips on best cookie press

You have to use cold dough. I have an Oxo press. I also had a Williams Sonoma one that was fine. The first few always come out funky but then you get into a rhythm.

Excellent! Is the OXO a good press?

I like the OXO press, it's the only one I've used. Cookies turn out fine every time, no issues.

You have to have a really strong hand mixer to deal with cookie dough.

I just have a hand mixer. What I do is kind of half melt the butter before adding it to the dough. That helps make the cookie dough easier to mix. Once I have it all mixed up, I put the whole bowl of cookie dough in the frig for an hour or two. That stiffens the dough up before it is time to bake with it. You have to watch your timing once they are in the oven, since the dough is chilled a little and therefore might take a little longer for the cookies to bake.

I haven’t had an issue with the hand mixer and I have worked with some very stiff doughs.

I have 3 cookie exchanges next week.

2 batches of gingerbread latte cookies from NYTs
1 batch of “snowballs” also called Mexican wedding cookies.

NP. I haven’t had a problem using a hand mixer, either.

Just lemon bars and tingalings (some people call them haystacks)

I have used many presses and recipes in my past and have fond memories of my grandparents getting into heated arguments about why the cookies weren't coming out of the electric press properly. I have had the best success now for years with the Pampered Chef manual press with their own recipe (both regular and chocolate).

Any favorite not overly sweet Christmas cookies? The cookies my kids have asked for are very sweet, and I want to add something to balance that a little.

Thinking of trying World Peace cookies or the NYT marbled tahini cookies but haven’t made them before and don’t know how sweet they are. Any thoughts on those or other options?
