This is the basic list I do every year for our family and friends. I make a full batch of each and then make little variety boxes as gifts for our friends and neighbors. We like to have a big cookie plate for Christmas but there is no way we could eat them all ourselves.

Rollo pretzel recipe please?

NP but I make these and they are SO good. And so very easy.

I'm not a good cookie baker so I am going to make these for the annual cookie swap I attend- perfect and they sound yummy! Thanks!

Suggest adding a whole toasted pecan to the rolls pretzel thing and you have next level deliciousness.

Sort of sad to say I don’t make Christmas cookies even though I love to bake. But I do usually bake New Years cookies— cutouts in stars, bells, maybe wintry mittens.
In our house growing up the Christmas cookie menu always featured cut outs, hi hats, thimble cookies, chocolate chip, lace tassies, and forgotten cookies. Thimble and forgotten cookies are my favorite.
Last winter I made some delicious cranberry curd. I used most in a cranberry tart but used the rest as the filling for linzer cookies. They were amazing.

Are you serious?

Remember you can make butter from heavy cream! Put it in a jar and shake until it's solid, strain out the butter milk. Add salt if you want. Kids love helping

For Christmas, I always make and will make again this year:

Cutout sugar cookies
Thumbprint/jewel cookies
Date-walnut bars
Chocolate peppermint patty cookies
Chewy molasses cookies

I like to try something new each year, so this thread is fun to gather ideas! Never too early for Christmas cookies!

You understand that no one is forcing you to go without your fall favorites or even open a thread you are not ready for. 🤷‍♀️

Can st llouis post the butter cookie recipe?
And please the pumpkin cookie with maple frosting?

I appreciate this thread. I used to be hardcore on not prepping Xmas before mid November — and then one year I had some major work deadlines and everyone got flu and I was then desperately trying to do all shopping and planning on 12/24. That was no fun.

Of course!

Pumpkin cookies: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/10949/pumpkin-cookies-v/. These are SO GOOD.

Gooey buttercake: if I make bites sometimes I use a from-scratch recipe (https://www.thatskinnychickcanbake.com/gooey-bars-katies-birthday-request-2/) but, total honesty, I usually use the traditional cake mix recipe which is how my mom always made them and what I like best. Here's that version: https://lilluna.com/gooey-butter-cake/. For Christmas I top with red/green sprinkles before baking and cut the cake into tiny bites I then put in mini cupcake holders. Or more rarely I'll make them in cookie form, like this: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/16773/gooey-butter-cookies/.

I hope Christmas is more fun and less stressful this year than that flu year was for you, PP!!
