There are consequences. DC camera tickets are notoriously expensive. The problem is that too many people just pay them because they have the money and it's not a burden or they don't pay and DC looks the other way.

They could, you know, not run red lights, stop signs or obey the speed limit and avoid those pesky fines.

Or they could invest in all the different ways to make your license plate unreadable to traffic cameras. Seems more likely.

It's high time the police cracked down on license plate covers. make it a $1000 fine. It's basically premeditated reckless driving.

Lol enjoy your communist city. I don't drive there anymore ever since they ticketed me for no front plate. I'm a VIRGINIAN. No cop or anyone else in Virginia cares if I have a front plate but if I park in DC I get a $50 ticket within 20 minutes. F U DC. So now I Uber in if I want to go in and you dirty commies can't have my money. Enjoy your budget when people stop coming into your ever crappier restaurants and ever more crime ridden streets.

If you believe the studies, they apparently also don't work. If people want to waste their money on stupid shit that doesn't do what it claims and in fact increases their chances of being subject to a traffic stop and receiving a citation, so be it.

Hate to break the news, but you’re required to have a front plate if your car is registered in Virginia. The MPD was fully in the right to ticket you, and guess what? Local and state cops in VA will ticket you as well.

MD and VA does not enforce payment of DC-issued camera tickets on its drivers. So MD and VA drivers can rack up thousands of dollars in tickets and not pay a dime. Nor will it affect the driver's insurance rates.

However, DC can impose points on drivers of other states. That will get the attention of MD and VA residents, plus their elected officials.

Carrot and stick, folks. That's all this is.

What would MD & VA get out of reciprocity with DC???? It seems like DC needs the reciprocity not MD & VA. And you can’t assess driving points on out of state drivers if there’s no reciprocity and a comparable traffic law in the driver’s state.

People sell and new people come in and buy for more.
People move and new people move in.
You just said in the same post that you uber in and you also don't come in anymore.

Don't worry, the action in in DC, the teams that people care about, play in DC.
The theater is in DC.
The restaurants are full.

We won't miss you, though if you do, we welcome you back.

Right, so why should we give deference to suburban commuters on our roads when the break our laws and drive recklessly.

Bottom line, there is a reason the city is making it harder for people to drive here. Because suburban drivers act with impunity.

In my DC neighborhood speed cameras are popular. The biggest complaint is there aren't enough. They really slow speeders down.

Oh, you have a low IQ. I’m sorry about that. Must be hard. Hugs.

Because the voters who actually live here and deal with the crazy MD/VA drivers speeding recklessly through our neighborhoods day in/day out are strongly supportive. All the whining and moaning is coming from people who don’t live or vote in DC. Drive the speed limit or stay tf out of our city, I could not possibly feel less sympathy for you.

Perhaps here cameras will get the ATV drivers that make our city so livable.

I hope so!

Those same suburban commuters your deputy mayor has been begging to get back into downtown DC offices because the city needs their tax revenue?

Crime in DC should be your focus not shaking down drivers who are contributing to your economy.

wish they would also mandate license plates an registrations for bicycles. plenty of them run stop signs and red lights, should be fined as well

Stand at any given intersection and count the number of drivers who come to a complete stop. Report back. Stand on any given road with a radar gun and report the number of drivers who are at or below the speed limit. Report back. Have a think about whether you’d rather be hit by a car or a bicycle. Report back. There are plenty of reckless cyclists in DC but they almost exclusively bear the risks of their recklessness. The same cannot be said about reckless drivers.

HAHA oh sweetie. How many people do you think come in their own cars vs on the metro? Please, do the math for me.

If you don’t want to, then you’ll just have to take my word for it that we could literally seal off all the bridges and borders, never let another VA/MD car into the city and would barely notice the impact.

Suburban commuter car brain is really something.

You pay a tax to DC every time you use an Uber or Lyft 😂

If you just followed the law when you drove into DC, you wouldn’t pay anything to the DC government.

Good lord, you are dumb.
