City councilwoman wants traffic cameras to dole out points, along with hefty fines

Who cares? That is what car registration is for. You are ultimately responsible for whoever drives your car.

The drivers feel their priviledged status slipping away even faster and they absolutely hate it.

Low income people also get murdered the most by homicidal drivers in DC. Guess you really don't care about those black folk, do you.

The hammer of accountability is about to smash down on DC drivers. I LOVE it.

MD and VA does not enforce payment of DC-issued camera tickets on its drivers. So MD and VA drivers can rack up thousands of dollars in tickets and not pay a dime. Nor will it affect the driver's insurance rates.

However, DC can impose points on drivers of other states. That will get the attention of MD and VA residents, plus their elected officials.

Carrot and stick, folks. That's all this is.

+1 to Henderson then. Hope our pitiful mayor is humiliated because she's been sitting on her ass letting MD and VA bend her over on ticket reciprocity. Mayor Bowser is a loathsome individual and I love her getting her comeuppance here.

Already illegal to obscure your license plate in DC. My FIL (with MD plates) recently got a ticket in DC for having a clear cover on his license plate. He was pulled over by MPD! They ain't messing around.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. MPD generally does not GAF about tampered plates.

Consequences for actions?

We’ll have none of that.

+1

They are predatory and placed mostly in areas with poor people.

+1, it’s blatant, naked racism.

Complete nonsense

well, Trayon White definitely won't support it, given his past proposals to reduce the speed cam fines: https://washingtoncitypaper.com/article/540412/trayon-white-bemoans-camera-traffic-tickets-in-campaign-donation-plea/

Nope. Non drivers in DC are sick of being shlt upon by drivers and the craven cowardly politicians like Muriel Bowser who cater to them. Non drivers are sick and tired of risking their lives simply crossing the street or walking their kids to school.

Dangerous drivers have been operating with impunity in DC for their deadly behavior for generations and the rest of us are going to end this once and for all.

Trayon White the anti-semite is such a low life loser he's willing to preen and pose on the dead bodies of Ward 8 residents to earn a couple of cheap votes from DC's biggest a55hole drivers.

Such a barometer of good moral character, that Trayon White.

Because the voters who actually live here and deal with the crazy MD/VA drivers speeding recklessly through our neighborhoods day in/day out are strongly supportive. All the whining and moaning is coming from people who don’t live or vote in DC. Drive the speed limit or stay tf out of our city, I could not possibly feel less sympathy for you.

Completely agree.

This is a very good primer on why the various constitutional gripes against this are legal non-starters:

They must be smoking some good weeds in DC if they think adding points to traffic cameras infractions will make MD and VA to reciprocate. I mean they don't want to reciprocate now when it's just fines but now you want to add points too, which would create more legal problems? Good luck with that.
No wonder DC reeks of weed.
I want some of whatever y'all smoking down there.

I live in DC. I average 1 camera ticket every 3 years or so. Daily, I watch drivers blow through red lights and drive so dangerously that I won’t let my tweens cross streets unaccompanied. Bring on the enforcement.
