Anyone else turning off the Royal coverage?

Not me. I've beend glued to the processional since 9am this morning. And I'll watch on Monday too.

Yes I'm British, I was sad for about 5 mins but can't get too upset about an unelected extremely privileged 96 year old who I didn't know. I've had enough of the coverage it is endless.

I want the coverage but not the information about H and M who no longer want to be a part of the BRF. Ignore them and focus on all the rest.

A week of different things going on is so much. Each time you watch it, it's just sad. Can't be in a constant sadness for multiple days. Not good. And don't even read about the rift between those brothers, and Meghan bashing. Too much.

Watching the mass right now, very poignant, sad yet beautiful.

Not a mass. Just a quick prayer service. The funeral is Monday but it’s not a mass because they are Anglican (Church of England) and not Catholic.

I think people in the US who are obsessed with British Royals are off (see the threads here where people are ready to kill each other over Kate Middleton vs. Megan Markle) and the monarchy itself is an outdated concept that has caused far more harm than good. Also, I'm Irish Catholic so eff the lot of them.

This. And I also never have the TV on for background noise.

Yup. It is not a great loss IMHO and I hate the racist BRF. I do not wish them well, I don't want to see them thrive. Jeff has a 48 hour rule so I could not heap my curses to them, but after 48 hours, I was completely disinterested in calling them names even.

Nope, anything that takes away all the sniping and nonsense of the news of late is great. I can watch it for hours and hours.

Regardless how you feel about the Queen and the BRF, this is history. The pomp and circumstance are entertaining. The tradition is interesting. In fact, it’s cultural.

I have only watched a tiny amount here and there, but i do find it interesting to watch such a weird family/tradition. Queen Elizabeth was an accidental queen because her uncle abdicated the throne. So, it is weird that people make such a fuss over her.

It is amusing from time to time, but BBC is going overboard. Can't imagine the TV news.

Watch out your ignorance is showing. It is more than her being an "accidental Queen" If you do not know the history of WWII and the relentless bombing of London and the Royal family not taking safe haven away from it than you won't ever understand the devotion British people have towards Queen Elizabeth II.

Please read and educate yourself.

Going overboard for someone who has been Queen for 70 years??? Unbelievable.

But a PP had it right: it's either Donald Trump or the Royals in the news cycle these days, so pick your poison!

Lol what? In 2022, with a 24-hour news cycle, the nonstop coverage of the death of a British queen who has reigned for 7 decades and the ascension of her son to the throne is…surprising? I feel like we have not yet even reached the amount of coverage Gabby Petito had.

Yeah it’s surprising. She isn’t our queen and never was. We aren’t a monarchy. Why does the US media think Americans care to watch all of the services and the whereabouts of her coffin? There are plenty of other things happening in this country and around the world that could be on the news instead.

It does not matter that she wasn't our Queen. It is history. Are you interested in the War in Ukraine? After all, it doesn't involve us personally! That is why there is a national news and international news. If not interested, fine but, please do not dictate what others should or shouldn't be interested in.

No one is dictating anything and no one is saying it shouldn’t be covered at all. But in my opinion, the constant coverage of every little thing surrounding her death is ridiculous. Seems like others on here feel similarly. It’s fine if you don’t. Enjoy the news coverage!

Yes they are dictating. They are annoyed that we are even covering it more than five minutes! Meanwhile they can turn off the channel/radio. And watching the funeral isn't "enjoyment" as you so put it.

You seem really invested in this! Lol

And you seem very uneducated.
