Anyone else turning off the Royal coverage?

But a PP had it right: it's either Donald Trump or the Royals in the news cycle these days, so pick your poison!

Lol what? In 2022, with a 24-hour news cycle, the nonstop coverage of the death of a British queen who has reigned for 7 decades and the ascension of her son to the throne is…surprising? I feel like we have not yet even reached the amount of coverage Gabby Petito had.

Yeah it’s surprising. She isn’t our queen and never was. We aren’t a monarchy. Why does the US media think Americans care to watch all of the services and the whereabouts of her coffin? There are plenty of other things happening in this country and around the world that could be on the news instead.

The day of her funeral which our President is attending, ok. All this other stuff? No thanks! Didn’t we divorce this institution 246 years ago?

It is history making. Sorry if you are not interested but, it is interesting to people like me who realize that this is the last Queen in our lives and the last monarch to serve this long. It has nothing to do with our war on independence. We have been allies longer than the war. the fact that you all are "over it" is a sad state of affairs in my personal opinion.

Are you kidding? There is a Queen of Denmark reigning as we speak - she’s been on the throne for 50 years.

This Anglophilia is getting very old. The UK is a hot mess of xenophobia and a stagnating economy post- Brexit that is about to tank over winter energy prices. They are nothing to salivate over, but maybe we can see in them the roots of our own white supremacy problems. Nothing is more white supremacist than a Northern European monarchy.

Has she died? If you are not interested it seems funny to start a thread about how you don't care. Other people do care and I for one will watch every bit of coverage. If you are not a student of history than perhaps the Kardasians are more up your alley. Since you mentioned Denmark I want to point out that they are not perfect either and as a country also have problems with racism.

It does not matter that she wasn't our Queen. It is history. Are you interested in the War in Ukraine? After all, it doesn't involve us personally! That is why there is a national news and international news. If not interested, fine but, please do not dictate what others should or shouldn't be interested in.

You can't be serious..you are comparing Michael Jackson to the Queen?

Wtf are you talking about? MJ was way more talented and valuable than her.

Pity “MJ” overdosed on propanol rather than continue to lead the United States.

No one is dictating anything and no one is saying it shouldn’t be covered at all. But in my opinion, the constant coverage of every little thing surrounding her death is ridiculous. Seems like others on here feel similarly. It’s fine if you don’t. Enjoy the news coverage!

Cool, she's dead now. Feel free to change the channel.

I don't think so! Let's put it this way. You and a few are in the minority on your opinion. It's your right to be utterly wrong.

Yes they are dictating. They are annoyed that we are even covering it more than five minutes! Meanwhile they can turn off the channel/radio. And watching the funeral isn't "enjoyment" as you so put it.

If only there was a way to avoid the "constant" coverage. If only!
