What about a normal Wednesday or Friday afternoon? |
| In that case, if I invited you I'll be sure to have things you like to eat |
Why would “they” care what you eat? How do “they” even know what you eat? Are *you* making it a big deal? |
| I respect yours. Just don't make me have to figure out something to feed your special-snowflake-self. |
No One Asked You To |

People are so weird about vegans. I really don’t understand the hostility and defensiveness.
I am not vegan but have vegan friends and have no issues hosting them. |
Me too. |
| I don't "hate" vegans; however, I refuse to enable them. Someone who is vegan has mental health problems and uses food control as an unhealthy (mentally and physically unhealthy) coping mechanism. I don't ever purposefully enable someone struggling with a mental health problem. |
Who hurt you ? |
| Do vegans host and offer meat dishes when their guests eat meat and dairy? Or do you only serve vegan dishes? |
A person who keeps kosher would never eat anything prepared in your unkoshered kitchen. Don’t use Jewish practices about which you clearly know nothing to score points. |
I’ve done both. Especially if there is a little kid who only eat hot dogs or other kid food. I will make a bangin filling vegan meal for the adults. Sometimes I get a cheese board or cooked chicken at Wegmans. I prefer not to cook meat in my kitchen though. I’ll prep plate and serve it no problem. I’d use disposable cookware if inspired to cook something non vegan, like a quiche with dairy. |
Adding I can’t really digest animal products well, prefer vegetarian or vegan. It’s not an ethical thing for me. Though I respect that it can be for others. |
I work in a field where more people are vegan than not, and literally no one has these conversations. Though I was at a conference over the summer and there was a vegan restaurant across the street, that was flipping delicious, and yes we talked a lot about how good it is. But seriously this absolutely never comes up unless it's to compare notes about this new product v that one or whatever. |
I have not hosted these specific people (fortunately) but I agree with this -- I have nothing against vegans, only against vegans who are rude guests who criticize other people's eating or cooking choices. I have the same thing against rude vegetarians and omnivores. |
