Pitt decisions

People on the CC forum reported getting merit aid awards. Just a few so far.

By “authentic” ECs, I meant they didn’t start a business or nonprofit or fly to the moon just for the sake of college admissions. I wondered why all these kids at my kid’s school were starting “businesses” that lasted 10 minutes and publishing books and trying to sell them. I learned it looks better to colleges if you can say you sold X amount.

Just got admitted to Engineering
GPA 3.7 SAT 1540

Submitted 9/15, but DC missed the whole account set-up concept (email went to spam). Fixed that on 9/28 and realized that there was the SRAR to complete. Got admit letter on 10/12. So, currently ~2 week review it seems.

My DC applied 3 weeks ago and hasn’t heard yet. He opened the portal and filled out the SRAR within a few days of submitting his app. Applied to arts and sciences.

Can you report merit amounts for out of state? I will start - DD $10k for arts and sciences.

Instead of making this a contest, including stats may be beneficial

Has anyone been rejected from Pitt on here?

Maybe assume good intentions? Just wondered the range of aid, as have heard it has been reduced in last couple of years. No use in a student pushing back or asking for more if the limit is now lower. You sound like the problem, assuming everything is a competition.

Anyway, DD has 4.0 uw, 35 ACT, two varsity sports, student government and several clubs that occupy about 5-6 hours a week (president of one).

Great. Now we have some context. Congratulations.

I'll go next. DS is white, not first gen. Out of state. 4.0 UW/4.3W. 1520 SAT. Average EC's, no national awards. $40K total award over 4 years - Arts & Sciences. Very grateful for the merit aid but honestly not sure $10k/year would sway him to attend there over somewhere else. Curious about full ride opportunities like Chancellor's scholarship mentioned by previous poster

You have quite the snarky edge. I hope you don’t subject your child to it.

Why do you say this? Why do you think Pitt would not be good enough. (NP with kid with similar stats)
