I am shocked that your child is 40 lbs at 2 years of age. That’s the average of a 5 year old. |
| And I'm very shocked that there are 10 year old girls who weigh over 100 lb. Definitely not healthy. |
You don’t know that. Some 10 yr old girls are 5 ft + with periods |
| 10 1/2 year old girl, 46 inches and 53 pounds. Really healthy eater but also eats snacks/sweets, athletic and active. We are always trying to keep the weight up! |
I wouldn't be, I posted above about my small daughter, she has not started puberty and some of these girls were in active puberty and menstruating last year (fourth grade). For reference was I the shortest/smallest kid in my class through elementary and on the growth chart was not predicted to hit five feet tall. I'm now 5'7". It evens out for a lot of these kids. |
Some 5th graders are larger than I am. Doesn’t mean it’s a good thing. |
All of my three kids were over 100 pounds by 10. My youngest is 5’5 and not quite 9. He would be underweight if he was under 100 pounds. |
It doesn’t mean anything to you, since you don’t know the context. I was 5’5” 125 at 11 in 6th grade. I’m 39 and still the same height and weight. Some girls go through puberty at 10-11 and reach their adult size earlier |
It’s rare. Most just go up from there. And wait until they start drinking and/or have a couple babies. |
| My 10 yo ds is 110 pounds, 5'3. He is almost 11. |
It is absolutely not rare for girls to reach their full adult heighr by 5th or 6th grade. Its very common. |
I work in a middle school with 6-8th grade. The size difference between the two grades is astronomical. I’m not saying it’s impossible for someone to be full height in 5th or 6th but it is most definitely not “very common” and they also still continue to gain weight. |
I was over 100 pounds at 10. I was at the 95th percentile for height. Was not chubby at all. |
I’m guessing you are remembering this wrong. My 11 year old is also very tall and weighs 77 lbs. |
Yea well he is in 5T clothing and size 10/11 toddler shoes and is 40” tall as well. Definitely not chunky. Just big. Everywhere. |
