+1 why would anybody protest police whose job it apparently is to pepper spray and handcuff parents who want to barge into a school and save their children from being shot (since the police sure AF aren't going in). Thank goodness those police were there to stop those unruly parents. |
Our neighborhood is very much non-Trumpy but yeah, they're out there |
Ours handed out Halloween candy wrapped with pro-Trump messages right before the election. |
| I live in North Arlington, and 3 out of my 5 nearest neighbors are Gadsden flag/Trump sign conservatives. |
That's wild - which neighborhood? |
LOL, to display actual Trump lawn signs takes some balls in NOVA, this doesn't tell you how many Trump voters or republican leaning people live in the area. Youngkin signs should give you a better idea and I had seen plenty of those in every suburb of NOVA. I'd say half of the signs were for Youngkin even in inner belt NOVA areas, this should tell you something. |
Did your friend explicitly stated their disdain for Trumpy neighborhoods? Did they ask you for advice?
|
My friend and I are close and they are not fans of Trump supporters' political beliefs. I don't think she would mind living around people who simply have different beliefs, but what I have read goes beyond people just thinking differently. It's one thing to disagree about politics, it's another to live in a neighborhood where people actively dislike people for wearing masks, or who want to censor certain types of books/speech in the schools. |

I don’t understand why you want everyone to live in the same echo chamber. I’m in a very nice Nova neighborhood that’s very blue, but we have some obvious trump supporters who live on our street and they’ve been nothing but nice to everyone who speak to them and vice versa. We talk about everything but politics. I’m independent so I have no skin in the game.
I don’t understand the need to only live near one party neighborhood only. Just treat your neighbors with respect and keep it moving. |
What does "actively disliking" people for wearing masks look like in an neighborhood? Can you please give us an example of this "active" disliking?
|
Why hello time traveler from 2019. You may want to update yourself on the politics of masking in 2022. "As mask mandates are loosened, Americans who opt to continue wearing face masks face harassment | Salon.com" https://www.salon.com/2022/03/08/mask-shaming-desantis/ |

This thread is so interesting and a good view into the “white moderate” that’s more concerned with civility than civil rights
y’all are defending people who support a man who tried to stage a coup of the freaking government and overturn an election. But as long as your neighbors want and bring you some apple pie that’s just fine. Whew! European Americans are a fascinating bunch. |
Someone literally made a thread asking about an area that’s not too liberal bc their father gets upset when he sees people wearing masks. I know people who have been confronted by people for wearing a mask which is weird bc I thought mask-haters wanted everyone to do as they please. |
|
Yeah, a lot of this grass cutting and sharing apple pie ignores the asymmetrical nature of the parties.
The right is WAY to the right.... |
That’s just your assumption based off what the media wants you to think. Until you get to know these people you can’t decide if they’ do any of those things. Voting for Trump is not synonymous with every other stereotypical thing you can think of. You should get more Trump friends, you might learn you’re more alike than you think. |
