Equating the purpose of wearing a mask while performing a surgery with wearing a mask to prevent the spread of a highly contagious aerosolized respiratory virus just shows you have no clue what you are talking about. Aside from the difference in function, nobody ever said a correctly worn medical respirator doesn't work. The point is that school children have never done that and never will, nor should they.

I suppose the doctors who wear them are not as smart as you.

PP is trying to send zingers across...that are not zinging. That made no sense.

The PP is still missing the point. Nobody said that doctors wearing masks during surgery, or doctors wearing N95s to prevent Covid transmission isn't working, or that they shouldn't wear them. Kids in schools aren't surgeons though, nor can they wear a tightly sealing N95 all day long.

No, people did say that masks do nothing. It’s in plain site on this thread.

Yes, but not the poster above whom you accused of thinking they were smarter than the doctors and nurses. They very explicitly made a different case. Maybe aim your attacks at the right people?

It’s aimed correctly. That poster is just a different kind of BS.

Yes, because performing surgery where you cut into the body and expose internal tissue is exactly the same as attending kindergarten.

But you said masks do nothing.

No one actually has said that "masks do nothing." I just re-read the whole thread.

Saying it does nothing is not justifiable to try to not wear one. Just don’t wear one, it’s not mandated.

lol tell me again how my kid’s snotty, chewed-on mask that slips under his nose works at all? if anything it makes him more prone to picking up a bug.

You inadvertently admitted that a good clean mask works. Hahahhahahhha!

You still aren't getting it, moron. We are not (or at least I am not - I'm one of the many PPs) arguing that well-fitting, high-quality masks, worn correctly, don't work. They do! We are arguing that elementary aged kids do not wear well-fitting, high-qualilty masks, and they don't wear them correctly. There isn't anything you can do to fix that. Ergo, mask-wearing in this age group does not work.

Actually, there are some in here who said they don’t work.

In the context of discussing the removal of school mask mandates and whether that was responsible for an increase in cases.

There were some posters throwing out the statement "masks don't work" without further context, and the PPs are focusing on those instead of responding to the actual arguments being made by others, because it's easier to fight a simplistic strawman than engage in actual discussion.

Once more, for those who still don't get it:

High-quality, correctly worn masks work.

Mask mandates, which will always suffer from poor quality products and poor and inconsistent compliance, don't work. If you want to impose a public health intervention, especially on children, the burden is on you to prove with a high-quality study that it works in the real world, and that the benefits outweigh the harms. Nobody has shown that for mask mandates so far, not in general and certainly not in schools.

Nope, you just don't get their point. You clearly are less smart than the doctors and nurses.

It's not. Please find the quote. You are inventing things for your own benefit. People have discussed mask *mandates* not having appreciable impacts.

I think there was somebody, but the post was probably reported and deleted.

Still says something to that effect on 2 pages.

Where? Where does someone say "masks don't work" full stop? No one does. People are talking about mask mandates but you can't wrap your skull around that.

Just got over Covid. Very mild symptoms however, I live alone with a cat. Been vaccinated and boosted. I don't understand how I got it. That's the scary part. I feel I was very responsible and taking precautions not to catch it, but I did. Also know someone who has had it 3 times! Vaccinated and boosted. I don't think even the doctors know what to tell any of us anymore.

When someone says it’s raining cats and dogs, do you literally think actually cats and dogs are falling from the sky?

Hey, I'm on your side! I have been trying to get people to understand what it means to say mask mandates don't work. I do remember a short post or two saying "masks don't work", and I also remember someone saying they would report it, but perhaps it was a different thread? In any event, no need to accuse me of making things up.

See, I understand context. Which you get when you read entire sentences. I also understand metaphors. I understand that you can change context by excluding portions of the surrounding text, and I also understand that doing so is disingenuous.
