Increases of Covid cases at Lafayette ES

What is going on over there?

None of the kids wear a mask. I see 1-2 per class masked at pickup. Other parents think Covid is over.

It’s everywhere now. My school (I’m a teacher) has 6 different classes where there are currently fewer than 5 students due to cases + quarantines

Wasn't their auction last weekend? Was it in-person?

The Murch auction generated a bunch of cases, per the texts and emails I've gotten from the organizers. Those people almost certainly passed it to their kids.

We've gotten positive-test emails from Murch on a near-daily basis for a few weeks now, so it's not just Lafayette. Pretty much all of my kid's friends have tested positive over the past few weeks, as well.

Are they going back to closures in the fall?

Nope. People would freak out completely. We are ignoring Covid now.

Auction was Saturday but all outdoors.

No one is surprised, kids are masked and they are indoors spreading it all day. Cases went up in schools when masks came off. It’s not rocket science.

But every single teacher I have seen is masked.. wish more families would follow suit.

COVID is rocketing up everywhere. BA.2. This was predicted but nobody wants to pay attention anymore.

If you are vaccinated, its nothing more than a cold. COVID fear mongering IS over. Covid variant is blowing through so many of my friends now and their kids, my whole family had it a few weeks ago. Most colds are worse and last longer. If you are vaccinated, carry on.

Kids and staff in our charter are still masked indoors and cases are up there too. I'm sure masks help but not wearing them def isn't causing the actual spike.

With a school of 800+ and maybe 10-20 masked kids, it’s going to spread like wildfire. Teachers seem to be fine and not out (but all of them stayed masked)

If you think they are wearing the masks, I’ve got a bridge to sell you.

We don’t think COVID is over - we just don’t believe our fully vaccinated elementary schooler should have to wear a KN95 all day. And yes, it’s because I don’t care about immune compromised people and under 5s - just wanted to save you from writing that. 😝😝
