Girlfriend hygiene budget?

If this isn’t a troll, this is such a hilarious scam. Conning somebody to get tampons? So funny.

So OP is dating someone who is getting high, drunk and smoking so much that she can't afford basic necessities and is poor, but unmotivated to earn more (see getting high) but happy to use OP's money.

And THEN she tosses half-used items he buys with his money. She must be great in the sack for him to not dump her.

I've learned that there is a secondary grey market for tampons. Who knew

AND they took them out of the wrappers AND tied all the strings together

Even if she was OCD and overusing she isn't overusing TAMPONS every two weeks. No one is shoving a dry tampon up there and pulling it out just for the heck of it. And I don't even know how you could go through a pack of q-tips that soon unless you were making elaborate q-tip art. Her body would look like a seal if she was slathering on that much lotion every day, this just is not a list or timeline that makes any practical sense.

This is the post of someone who wants to complain about how much women spend on 'hygiene' but who has no actual insight into what they buy or how often they buy it.

Really she's buying MOUSSE every two weeks? This isn't 1989 dude.

Op here,

So my girlfriend is basically poor as a mouse. I pay for everything except her smokes and personal bills. I was just curious if it’s normal for a woman to spend so much money. She’s said her skin is sensitive and she doesn’t always finish all the products and toss it or donate to her family. I am definitely checking the door cameras when I get home. Because now, I am suspicious as shit!

Huh? If her sensitive skin can’t tolerate certain products and she’s tossing them, why isn’t she specifying which products she wants you to buy so she gets what works for her?
Any chance she’s selling or giving this stuff away directly without using it at all?

She better be smoking hot because this is so weird and sad.

All the products sound fairly normal to me, and $86 is very reasonable. Many women spend way more than that on fancy non-drugstore versions of stuff.

However, as many others have pointed out, it's super strange to be replenishing these things every two weeks. Does she live with you? Any chance this is for her whole family with like 4 sisters or something? There's no way she is using a whole package of q-tips or tampons, or a whole bottle of shampoo/mousse, every 2 weeks.

Oh yeah OP has the only girlfriend in the world allergic to Q-TIPS.

He's full of crap, this list makes zero sense.

1. She’s saving it for a rainy day
2. Selling it for cash or sex
3. She doesn’t care. Op money
4. She is a sex worker. 10 showers a day. After each customer
5. Sharing with her many siblings because her parents also poor

Plus if she’s a foreigner. She is shipping it to her poor country!

Anonymous wrote:I am 32 and my girlfriend is 28. This question is mostly for women? My girlfriend texted me a list of things to buy before coming home: Feminine wash, spray, tampons, baby wipe, qtip, body wash, lotion, detergent, shampoo, and hair mousse. $86 and change. I just checked my bank statement and I noticed that Twice a month, I get the list from my girlfriend for the same products. Is this normal for a woman to spend on personal hygiene? Please educate me before I break up with her. Plus she smoked cigarettes, weed, and drink. She pays for her bad habits

Feminine wash - I do not know what this means but I would skip this and just use soap.
Spray - is this hair spray? If so Dollar Tree has it for $1.25
Tampons - yep
Baby wipes — skip them and use TP or a washcloth or get them at Dollar Tree for $1.25
Q Tips - Dollar Tree $1.25
Body Wash - skip
Lotion - get Walmart or CVS brand of lotion of choice
Detergent — laundry detergent? Get Xtra brand at Food Lion for like a few dollars and it lasts forever
Shampoo — Suave or Alberto VO5 at Dollar Tree (same for conditioner)
Mousse — ditto

OP here,

Definitely not a troll. I am just curious plus I want to help her budget her money better.

DP. You need to try harder with your stories. Buying a box of tampons every two weeks? Are you familiar with how the female reproductive system works?

Yeah, I’d never take you to rob a bank. You can’t get your story straight.

Even if she is smoking hot, I’d give her the boot.
1. She smokes, can’t be that smart. Smoking = Lung cancer
2. Needs vs wants - Cigarettes are not a need.
3. See number 1…

Most of those items should not be used up in 2 weeks. How is she using up qtips in 2 weeks? Shampoo? Feminine wash, which I’ve never used but seems it would last a while? And tampons, this varies by person and how heavy her cycle is but 2 boxes a month could be a lot.

Nothing like the smell of cigarettes and perfume… 🤮
Putting your girlfriends lips around the exhaust pipe of my diesel truck is better than cigarettes!

I don't understand what you mean by a lot of these but here's what I buy:

Shampoo and conditioner and dry shampoo: every two months, probably. I can spend between $15 and $60 depending on what I buy.

Tampons and Pads: I spend about $200 every year in one purchase.

Makeup: I don't wear a lot of makeup but spend about $200 a year, I am guessing. I use a mix of Amazon subscribe and save for mascara and concealer, but I also buy $30 Nars blush 2x a year, for example.

Skincare: this is a lot. I purchase about $100 of lotions, serums, and things like this maybe 4x a year. A mix of Sephora and drugstore.

I also get $300 of botox 3X a year but I end up paying less because there are deals in the app I use.

Add toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors, body wash or soap (I prefer just plain soap), body lotion, hand lotion, and other things I am forgetting, and I likely spend another $200 a year.

I get my hair done 2x a year on average, about $400 each time.

I don't get my nails done but may do a pedicure a few times each summer at about $40 each.

I'm 40 though, so there is more to tackle, and I have more disposable income than most 20-somethings.

I would not say your girlfriend is overdoing it, unless you need to adhere to a stricter budget. What does she spend on makeup?

Maybe she's saving this stuff to donate to refugees from Ukraine?

Does she have a lot of sisters? Girl cousins? Aunts?
