Bridgerton, Season 2

I felt that Daphne should have married the Prince and not the Duke. The prince wanted the same things she did and was more her type; the Duke was just a hot, cocky jerk. WHy do women always gone for the fixer upper than the one they could build a good life with?

That's not how the series works. It's based on a set of novels that are each about a different sibling. I am hearing a TON of buzz!

Hmmm, I told you they should have kept the original characters. Dead in the water.

'Most of the bedroom scenes were previously supplied by Phoebe Dynevor as Daphne Bridgerton and Rege-Jean Page as her husband, the Duke of Hastings. But he doesn't appear in series two and she is more of a background character.

...

'Now all the romance revolves around Anthony Bridgerton, played by Jonathan, and new character Kate Sharma, played by Simone. But their lust never progresses beyond flirtation and a nearly kiss.'

You really think they aren’t going to have them do sex scenes? They don’t follow the books word for word.

I don’t ‘think’ anything. The reviews are in

The review says they have sex.

The reviews say there is barely any sex, at the last moment, rushed and the show is boring. Like I said.

But over the course of the season’s eight episodes running a solid hour-long each, this “Bridgerton” return too often feels like a luxurious carriage stuck in the mud, spinning its wheels before eventually heaving itself back on the road.

There’s always pornhub.

Copious sex was the only reason Bridgerton 1 took off astronomically in comparison to say...Victoria or Downton Abbey.

Without it AND the original main characters they're sunk. That's all I'm saying.

Downton was hugely popular and was watched by more people than Bridgerton. But even Downton had its own sex scene, albeit off screen.

Downtown took 3-4 seasons to get to the level of cult popularity it has today.

Bridgerton did it in one. So did Outlander btw.

Downton was hugely popular from the get-go. It turned Julian Fellowes into an overnight star, along with most of the cast. I'm sure it became even more popular as time went on, but not 3-4 seasons to hit its stride. The first season was a phenomenal success and launched it as a global phenomena.

Downtown Abbey premiered worldwide in 2011. The rights to stream it on Amazon Prime wasn't even acquired until 2013 - in season 3. Until then it was strictly on PBS which no one watches. Try again.

She didn’t love the Prince. That was pretty clear.

+1000

I’m sorry but there is no way Downton Abbey was as popular as the first season of Bridgerton. Come on now.

Um. The world isn't just the United States. Which too many Americans conveniently ignore.

I lived in the Middle East when Downton first premiered and it was hugely popular. That it came into the US a bit later (maybe, who knows?) doesn't mean the show was already popular and had a global following from the first year. It was an enormous success in Britain as it was a British TV show first and foremost.

And you also have to acknowledge the difference in timing. 2011 and 2021 are two very different technological eras. Prime and Netflix were smaller than they are now. If Bridgerton has an advantage it's having much bigger instant access than was ever possible in 2011.

Zero chance this season is as good as the last.

Ok I’ll add to this thread: finally everyone has decent bangs.

I liked the books and season one but this season is BORING.

Its 9PM on release day and Bridgerton Season 2 is not doing numbers on social media. But hey it couldn't possibly the new actors, changes in storyline, and lack of actual sexual coitus at fault.

Couldn't be.

Well the whole premise of the series is a different couple every book so they couldn’t exactly change that without going completely off-script.

It’s boring. Talk about a sophomore slump.

Literally my favorite couple and the one I was looking forward too. I've never been so disappointed.

I like this season much better than the last. And at least the main woman doesn't look like a child in this one.

This season is much better than the last. Of course you can always count on DCUM to be unimpressed. No one here is happy unless they are whining.
