+1 I agree. The nanny should be seated with the family. She will not be working during that time but she is traveling with the family so she should be seated with the family. After all, when you get to your destination and the family is booked at the Ritz, the nanny isn't going to be schlepping down the street to the Motel 6. She'll have her own room in the same hotel. I am amazed at you, OP, that you have the wherewithal to travel first class if these are the types of questions you have. Try to be a decent person for once. |
If you don't need her and don't want to pay for her tickets and private room. Then give her a big bonus and a paid week off. She can go on her own trip wherever. But, yes why if not special needs do you have a nanny? |
| No. Disgusting. I would quit. |
Wait, this seems like a good idea. At least, that is what the rest of us do. |
As a special bonus and since this is her vacation, the nanny should sit in one of the two first class seats (possibly with your husband) and you sit back with the kids so you can take care of them (in case they need help with a vomit bag or whatever). You are their mother after all. |
| OP, it's a small-ish financial sacrifice considering -not- doing so makes a very big impression. |
Then why do you HAVE a nanny? |
The kids are tweens and teens not toddlers. Some of you are some real self-righteous blow hards. |
| It is really low class to put kids in the few first class seats available on a flight. |

| Either the kids are in economy with the nanny or all of you are in 1st. Just the nanny in economy is rude. As a frequent business traveler, no one wants your kids in first. |
| Very rude |
If she isn't working, then I would have her buy her own ticket on whatever flight she chooses. |
| I don’t get these responses at all. Of course it’s ok to fly economy. She’s an employee |
| We flew business class to Australia and all five of us were together. Nanny was a huge help and it sends a very wrong message to do anything different. |
