Travelling with nanny is it ok to put her in economy when we all do first?

This is the first time we can afford first class. The question is do we spring for first class for the nanny? What does everyone else do in our situation.

I think it's rude to do that.

Of course you do. I’ll never understand families that treat their nanny as less than. This woman is your primary caregiver (both at home and on vacation). She should be treated as such.

How is she going to supervise and assist the kids if she is not even in seated with them?

...if you can afford both a nanny and at least 3 first class airline tickets (even if by miles!), I'm going to go out on a limb here and say you can scrape together the difference for another one.

She’ll never forget that you did this and it will always sting. Your kids also will see and remember.

Don’t be ashamed that it crossed your mind, but absolutely be ashamed if you do it.

I'd find it really distasteful and it certainly "puts her in her place" but I'm sure many families that travel with their nannies do it too.

Would the kids/baby be there with her too?

Put her back in the cheap seats, maybe stick the kids back there too?

You might be traveling first class, OP, but you are low class.

Kids don't need help they are tweens and teens , I guess it sounds like first for all. Lol

Also, if you do this, please don't ever be one of those people who claim how beloved that their nanny is, that she's like a member of their family, and all that.

Wait, what?! You have tweens and teens and are bringing your nanny on vacation?!?!

We are flying our au pair and kids in regular economy and spouse and I in premium economy. They’ll be a few rows behind us. Spouse and I are tall and the extra space is extremely helpful for us. Au pair and kids are all under 5’1. But if we were flying first including the kids we would fly everyone first.

She wanted to go on vacation and we offered to add her to ours. We wouldn't be using her as a nanny on Vacation.

In that case I would still book her in 1st because you’re going to end up using her anyway. Why do you still have a nanny with tweens and teens?
