64% is not a "really high vax rate". https://coronavirus.maryland.gov/#Vaccine Get it to >90% and we can talk. Data shows solidly that unvaccinated and partially vaccinated people are more likely to get COVID and be hospitalized. https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/coronavirus/see-the-numbers/covid-19-in-virginia/covid-19-cases-by-vaccination-status/ Does that mean no breakthrough cases? Of course not. But I prefer my odds as a fully vaccinated and boosted adult, and I'm glad my kids are vaxxed too. |
Can you read? The 30% vaccinated have underlying health conditions and 99% of them did not get a booster. |
| Yes I can read and vaccines don’t appear to be as effective against Omicron which will soon be the dominant strain. |
Don’t go to NY or NJ |
All of the schools my kids attend have a vaccine mandate and they are running booster clinics. This was done prior to the school year starting. |
That’s great. Neither of ours has a mandate and it’s time |
Agree. |
|
PG County just announced they are going all virtual until the middle of January.
Watch the dominoes start to fall. Pathetic. |
| Kids under 16 can't get boosted, and two shots doesn't offer much protection from infection against omicron. It is frustrating. |
How about you mind your own business. |
| My 15yo vaxxed kid has Covid. It’s an annoying head cold and 10 days of isolation. Other than being very heavy had zero extra risk factors. Thankful he’s vaccinated. |
Our school made it very clear that while their may be disruptions they expect to remain open. They emphasized that covid is becoming endemic and that the focus of closing will no longer just be on number of positive cases. It’s about time we shift our mindset and I’m so glad our school agrees! |
At 15 he would have been perfectly fine without the vaccine. |
Why would private schools follow a low performing public school district in continuing a form of education that has been proven to be ineffective and harmful to the well being of children? In addition to a vaccine mandate, our school is conducting surveillance testing of all students before school starts, as it did in the fall and will continue surveillance testing throughout the remainder of the year. While virtual is certainly a possibility, it is the last resort and not the first. |
Still much better to be vaccinated so it reduces the risk for extreme illness |
