Anyone else think schools will be virtual after Winter Break?

People with boosters are testing positive too.

I’m in a hotspot (not DC) and every adult I know who has been positive over the past couple weeks is boosted. That being said, with the exception of one friend who has health risk factors, they were all very mild cases.

But how many people do you know who aren't boosted? In my experience (supported by research for the anti-anecdote folks), people tend to cluster with others who share their values. So people who are vaccinated and boosted tend to mostly (though of course not exclusively) hang out with others who share their views on Covid vaccines. If 95% of your acquaintances are boosted, of course the people you know who are getting Covid are people who are boosted - those are the people you know. It doesn't mean that people who are boosted are getting Covid at the same or higher rates as those who are unvaccinated or unboosted.

FWIW, the "anti-anecdote folks" are not an emotional lobby. It's the scientific method, developed centuries ago as we dragged ourselves out from under the dead weight of totalitarian superstition, which some here clearly miss.

What it means is that 7th, 8th and 9th grades are going to be affected in an omicron outbreak regardless of booster status, since we are seeing such an outburst of positives in both vaxxed and boosted populations with this strain.

When I walk outside, I will be "affected" by the weather no matter how I dress. But putting on a raincoat will make a big difference to my warmth, comfort, and potentially my health. If I were grading your answer, it would get marked down for using such vague, almost meaningless terminology.

Just let the kids go back to school and stay home if sick FFS. Stop all this weekly testing of asymptomatic kids. This is never going to end!

So ignore sick people because it inconveniences you. Sound plan - sounds like a true private school parent!

Husband and myself. Vaccinated and boosted, healthy, in shape etc. both got Covid over Christmas. He had it pretty badly, but not hospital bad. Both of us on day 13 still feel sick and exhausted

You are better off than 1k+ people every day who are still dying, mostly unvaccinated according to all reports. Hope you don't have any long-term issues. But staying out of the hospital is a huge difference.

Thanks to science.
