85% vaccine rate isn’t good enough

So, you only care about yourself at best, given that is questionable. The sniffifles did not kill this many.

Nor did it kill a percentage of my cohort to have the slightest bit of fear.

I don’t have high hope for those antovirals. The one they have for the flu, tamiflu, doesn’t reallly seem to work that well, IMO. I’m guessing these meds would be similar.

The people who are in serious risk are people who can already get vaccinated and have access to antibody treatments, drugs and other treatments that have been shown to lessen the effects of Covid on the off chance they get it even though they’re vaxed and boosted. A 7 year old shouldn’t have to go to school with a mask on for the next 10 years because a 300 pound 70 year old chooses to not take a free, readily available vaccine. And that will happen if we treat every single variant that emerges over the next 10 years like a national emergency and don’t deal with it in a measured, sane fashion.

Even if everyone was willing to take the vaccine, herd immunity was impossible with the transmissibility r0 of delta and the waning VE. It’s definitely impossible with current vaccines and omicron. The government needs to do its job stopping the unvaxed from clogging hospitals which is all we can do at this point and I’m tired of the government doing that by imposing more restrictions on me.

Ignore his comments. Just wear a mask into whatever retail store you enter. I have been since last year, and will continue to do so for a while. At this stage, it is not even annoying. It just hangs in my car, and another by front door. As for restaurants, I got vaccinated and boostered, and have a photo of my card on my phone. If someone wants to see it, fine. It is not exactly like I do not carry my phone everywhere anyway. Folks need to learn to relax and just do it. What I have clearly leaned is that there are lots of people that I will want to avoid when a real emergency happens. Many folks can handle even these simple things.

Covid will never go away. At some point, we have to stop being ruled by fear, and just get on with it.

I hate wearing masks. A store clerk was trying to tell me something, and I could not understand her, especially when they have an accent (not being racist.. my sister has an accent). I find if I can read lips and hear them speak, I can understand them better. Must be tough in classrooms.

Yeah- as the pandemic drags on I find myself annoyed with the total disregard for people who struggle with masks. My mom has a hearing impairment and has a hard time not seeing lip movement. And my kids have absolutely experienced communications issues at school although it seems better this year.

Not that it really matters around here because pretty much everyone continued to wear them even when the mandate was lifted anyway. But it is annoying that they keep moving the goalposts.

It doesn’t have to be perfect or help everyone, even if it helps some that could go a long way towards keeping people out of hospitals

We have started doing most of our shopping and other daily errands in Northern Virginia. Eventually will start looking at homes there, too, if MoCo keeps this up.

Funny because lots of studies say masking helps. And, plenty of real life examples too.
