Hayfield Football Coach Fired

Anonymous
I heard the head boys basketball coach at Lewis stepped down over break. Anyone know what happened. Based off their record I doubt there was recruiting.

Not surprised about Ford. He runs an AAU program called Family Over Fame. They barrow Durant players sometimes

Why do all these shady coaches use the word, "family/fam and etc?" And why do people fall for it? Dollars are what a lot of these guys care about.

Realistically the Hayfield principal wasn’t proven to have done anything wrong.

And if the state wants to do something, it has to be statewide. In the southern part of the state, we have large school districts with open enrollment, then with coaches still recruiting players from out of state. How can we expect a local school that doesn’t recruit to compete with a John Marshall?

We don't expect them to compete with cheaters. We expect them to follow fcps and vhsl rules. You are there to provide an extracurricular activity to the students of Edison. Not go out and recruit random kids to transfer.

that’s fine, but will they have a chance when a powerhouse school from a district with open enrollment who has found a way to get 4 and 5 star players from out of state into their school?

All I’m saying is that schools in each Virginia district should be held to the same standards when it comes to recruiting players living outside the schools zoning boundaries.

We can only control FCPS which is over half of division 6. If we hold our schools accountable they will be able to compete against a bunch of schools on an equal playing field and we would be teaching our students and communities about honesty and fair play. If we do it well enough the rest of the state will follow.

"Everyone else is cheating" isn't an acceptable excuse. Who cares if they can't compete qith supersquads of cheaters? Integrity is more important than winning.

Not more than half of 6A are FCPS and we aren’t holding all of our schools accountable. Edison had to hold their basketball coach accountable since the publicly spoke on Hayfield.

Edison’s basketball team was doing the same thing last year. The summer prior to 23-24 school year they had some twins playing with their basketball team who didn’t go to the school. There was no swift action then. They continued the process a year later.

25/59 are FCPS in 6a. If you included AC, and the 3 Arlington schools who typically algin with FCPS in decision making its 29/59.

Also the poster above said IF FCPS holds their schools accountable. I think they are hoping the district begins to do so.

Overton going to St. James now. Guess he screwed Hayfield and bounced. Figures.

FWIW - Some of these kids were already planning their transfer out of HF. Query whether they're going back to Freedom or paying the tuition at the STJ.

Too bad HF kids are left holding the bag. I haven't heard anything otherwise, but I assume the 2-year ban on post-season play will apply for next season.

Additionally, the way Coach Aziz and Erin Crowley were handled was atricious. The kids lost people who had connections to and cared for the school in favor of an interloper and thoughts of a HIGH SCHOOL football championship. As is typical in this situation, the kids are the primary casualties in all of this.
