I guess we can try to call and email about Phase 3? That’s all I can think of. |
Her explanation was that the business community didn't want the responsibility and felt like it was too much work to expect the pool staff to know who was there together. Which makes sense if you are thinking about commercial pools. Does not make sense for small community pools, where the lifeguards know who is there together. |
| I emailed her last week and she did not reply. |
| And I specifically asked for a reply from her or other relevant staffers. |
| Anyone think covid is a psyop? |
It’s not a comfort level thing. We are doing lap swim and following the rules. Pools allowing for recreational swim now or in phase 2 are violating the law. It’s wrong. |
I didn’t know his guidelines are law. Are you worried there is an increase chance of catching the virus by allowing rec swim or you just don’t like people following the rules? Doesn’t sound like NOVA is the only location with some rule breaking of pools.... |
It’s crazy. I am a board member of our club. We have about 200 families. I could probably recognize members of most memberships. If I can’t it is probably because they don’t go to the pool anyhow. Almost all of our guards belong to the pool. |
Yes, I think (and hope) our pool will be a little lax with families. We have the same situation and people know each other. |
Get a baby pool, seriously. You don't need a community pool if your kid can't swim and needs puddle jumpers. A baby pool or a slip and slide will suffice. For the bigger kids/swim team types -- lap swimming is HUGE. |
The poster is correct. You are opening yourself up to liablity by not adhering to the regulations. Pools could have their permits pulled if complaints are made and let's be honest, people will complain. |
| We are trying to cross every t and dot every i before we move to Phase 2. Phase 1 has gone smoothly but it was quite easy to plan and implement. Phase 2 is a bit more complicated. Our baby pool will remain closed. We will provide seating but we will limit numbers and numbered table groupings will be by reservation that correspond to numbered lanes. It’s trickier than Phase 1 though. I think it might be tough to convince people to maintain 10’ distance although they will be closer than 10’ when passing while doing laps. I think it may be tough to keep some from wanting to “play”, but we will try. As volunteers we are doing our best. |
If you know the families will you worry about them being 10’ apart? |
I don’t know about “worry”, but our messaging and posted rules will say they need to maintain 10’. Board members and other volunteers will remind them. Apparently the state of VA is worried about it. |
|
apparently governor said phase 2 could be 2 weeks longer so maybe we won't have to worry about it for long!! Or add a week for Nova and we are still in phase 3 end of June. Fingers crossed!!
