As a republican who is willing to vote for a democrat, I say Amy Klobuchar. Kamala turns people off in a similar way that Hillary Clinton did. We need a ticket of people who are above name calling and belittling people.

You know what? No, you and every other decent American is voting blue this time, no matter who it is. Be it Warren, Harris, Klobuachar, Buttigieg, Whitmer, or someone else, you don’t get to tell us how to run our party after you ran yours into the ground.

+1. Is also love to hear from PP why s/he thinks Harris turns people off. I hate when people say things like “something about her...” but can’t be specific. What names did she actually use when name calling? Calling someone out in bad prior behavior is not name calling.

My former republican mom adores Harris. She was her #1 pick for president. But unlike OP, my mom also doesn't think she has the right to dictate what are party does simply because her party f'ed up.

I really hate that so many strong, smart women (Clinton, Harris, Warren) are subject to the 'something about them just turns people of' line.

Not PP, but DP.
In all the hearings I've watched with her--including for Intelligence and Judicial, and maybe Homeland Security--she has attacked nominees rather than questioned them. In fact, I recall in one of the Intelligence hearings, her questions were not about Intelligence issues as much as about women and minorities. While those are factors, her job is also to be concerned about the job the person is hired for.

Her behavior in Kavanaugh's Judicial hearing was inexcusable.
For a lawyer and prosecutor to deny due process is disgusting.

This statement alone suggests you’re way out of step with what most Dems - and most people - feel about Harris. Most people think her tough questioning of Kavanaugh was perfectly appropriate and even necessary. Just one example below, many more easily available via search.

Quite frankly, the fact that trump supporters like you dislike her so much is another point in her favor.

Republicans do love prosecutors who are hard on minorities, so not surprised your mom adores Harris the cop.

I'm good with Harris. No - gdmn great with Harris. Biden/Harris seems like a great ticket to me.

The problem is that whoever Democrats like/want (Warren, Harris, etc) will turn off all the Never Trumpers/Regretful Trumpers.

If he does pick Harris, who I happen to really like, then she will have to pivot and be more moderate, more calm, less attack mode. The goal is to unite.

I also happen to love love Deval Patrick. I hope he gets serious consideration. I disagree that it HAS to be a woman. I'm female and will certainly vote for Biden regardless of what gender his VP is!

I personally think that a Latino/a candidate (either male or female) would help a lot more than a black woman. I don't think Biden has a problem getting the support of black voters against Trump (frankly, I think even Sanders who does not appeal to black voters would stand to get more support from black voters than Trump). However, one notable demographic that Biden does not draw support from is the Latino community.

I think a good strong Latina candidate with good executive experience (so there would be no question that they could step in should the need arise) would help the ticket the most. I think the person that fits the bill is the NM governor, Michelle Grisham. She is a 12th generation New Mexican of Latina ancestry. She has served three terms in Congress, so she knows how it works and she is now the governor of New Mexico so she has executive experience in governing. She's got an impeccable record and good experience. Yes, she is relatively unknown on the national scene, but she would be a huge asset both in experience and demographics, so both hard qualifications and identity qualifications. Being unknown, she doesn't have some of the negative baggage that many of the former candidates carry or earned during their campaigns.

I couldn't agree more.

Biden cannot take the Latino vote for granted. Not after he betrayed 3+ million immigrants.

Biden needs to win 3 out of 4: MI, FL, OH, PA

That's it. He needs to base his VP decision on whomever can deliver 3 of those states. Nothing more, nothing less. While checking boxes is admirable, this election is not the year to make that goal a focal point.

The problem is that if we go with another corporate sorta Republican sortta Democrat we will turn off all the Progressives/young Democratic voters. “The goal is to unite” goes both ways.

And the way is this: every decent person votes blue in November. End of. Harris would be amazing. She’s not immoderate, she’s calm. She’s not a “cop,” she’s thoughtful.

I totally agree. It's hard to see how she gets MORE moderate. Anyway, if she gets picked - which I think she will - then it's time to make us all fall in love/feel comfortable. Hopefully she - and we - can do it.

The problem with Warren or Harris is that the GOP will make the entire campaign about them. It's as if Trump is running for President against one of them, rather than Joe Biden. It will be a gluttonous feast of all sorts of misogyny.

Frankly, I think the VP candidate needs to be someone low key and who can deliver the swing states. Someone who can take the wind out of the GOP's attack sails.

You forgot Wisconsin. Obviously I think he needs to campaign in all swing states, but I don’t see a scenario where he wins the election without Wisconsin. If he can’t win WI, I don’t see OH happening whatsoever. If he can get Florida that gives him breathing room for MI and/or WI, but I feel like MI and WI are more likely than FL.

Duckworth is my choice. She’s amazing.
