Biden's VP?

1. She’s qualified and has experience.
2. She comes from a safe state where the Dems won’t lose a Senate seat.
3. She’s got that moderate background so she will be attractive to conservative Dems and independents who might be scared off by someone further to the left.
4. She will be attractive to voters who want to see a woman and/or a minority on the ticket (indeed, she’s part black and part Southeast Asian, so attractive to two groups).
5. She is a happy warrior like Biden, so she fits the ethos.
6. She is a relatively young and exuberant campaigner and so counterbalances the old-man element of Biden, Pence, and Trump.
7. She is young enough that she could serve through 4 or 8 years of Biden, and still be young enough to run as his successor.
8. She matches up well against Nikki Haley, who seems to be the person the GOP is positioning to run in 2024 after Trump gets his ass kicked.
9. She would kick Pence’s ass at the VP debate, and generally would be an effective attacker as VP.
10. She has the recent Senate experience she can use on legislative affairs issues.

Only negatives I see are (a) some voters will dislike that she’s black, but frankly ... screw them, (b) some Bernie voters will consider her too moderate. I see those as small prices to pay for all her advantages.

I’m not sure she’s my personal first choice, but I think she is the right choice.

She’s a phony — not black at all. Pick a real black woman. There are plenty.

While your counter-argument is really compelling (/s), I think the other reasons tilt me in Harris’ favor.

Wow. The identity politics here is rampant.

What ever happened to picking the best person for the job?

I think a Biden/Kobochar ticket would have two very decent people and I think that is what this country needs for Unity.

As a republican who is willing to vote for a democrat, I say Amy Klobuchar. Kamala turns people off in a similar way that Hillary Clinton did. We need a ticket of people who are above name calling and belittling people.

I think the Michigan Govenor is great and would help carry the state. That would make the electoral map for Trump much harder.

Maybe after 44 black, Asian, Native, and Latinx presidents, all of whom are women, we can indulge your little “identity politics” obsession. For the rest of us, we’re aware that representing how the country actually looks is part of the best person for the job, and that different groups bring in different experiences.

You know what? No, you and every other decent American is voting blue this time, no matter who it is. Be it Warren, Harris, Klobuachar, Buttigieg, Whitmer, or someone else, you don’t get to tell us how to run our party after you ran yours into the ground.

How about you suggest who you think is the best person for the job? Since that’s what this thread is for.

+1. Is also love to hear from PP why s/he thinks Harris turns people off. I hate when people say things like “something about her...” but can’t be specific. What names did she actually use when name calling? Calling someone out in bad prior behavior is not name calling.

Pay attention. Whoever the VP nominee is, I suspect it will be the "Bait and Switch" election.

You are simply and completely wrong. Barack Obama is not eligible to serve as VP. Here’s the final sentence of the 12th Amendment to the Constitution: “... But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.” Obama not eligible for President, and so not eligible for VP.

The 22nd Amendment prohibits any individual who has been elected president twice from being elected again. Of course it would be reviewed by the courts but most legal scholars think the “elected” intent and terminology is clear. It’s a moot point since BO would never be a VP.

They are picking Biden because he was willing to play second fiddle to a black person, not that he is particularly qualified. Any allusion to picking the best person is just a pretense.

Latinos are already skeptical of Deporter-in-Chief wingman Joe Biden. If you add Harris to the ticket, the person who "stole" a Senate seat from a Latina, many Latinos will go third party, stay home, or even vote Trump.

Just like how Trump was picked.

Why do you all continue to refer to “winning” as “stealing”?
