Correct, I don't get to dictate how the Democratic Party is run, but I do get to vote.

I'm just saying I would definitely vote for a Biden/Klobuchar ticket. I would not vote for Biden/Harris ticket.

Harris reminds me of Hillary Clinton. Both tried to act cool. Both use big vocabulary to lay on insults to half the population. Both come across as as they really are only after power for themselves. Klobochar, none of the above, she is a genuine person.

That's it. He needs to base his VP decision on whomever can deliver 3 of those states. Nothing more, nothing less. While checking boxes is admirable, this election is not the year to make that goal a focal point.

You forgot Wisconsin. Obviously I think he needs to campaign in all swing states, but I don’t see a scenario where he wins the election without Wisconsin. If he can’t win WI, I don’t see OH happening whatsoever. If he can get Florida that gives him breathing room for MI and/or WI, but I feel like MI and WI are more likely than FL.

He also needs to have a candidate who voters can believe can stand-in as acting POTUS in the even that Biden has some sort of health crisis. From polling, it is a concern of a lot of the electorate that our two finalist candidates are both in their late 70's and are more likely to have some health related problem.

I think two candidates come out as good options: Gretchen Whitmer, who is a popular midwestern governor. She can deliver MI and likely WI. The other is NM governor, Michelle Grisham, who can deliver Latino support. That's another important demographic that Biden is missing. The Latino support can deliver FL and can help in other states like Texas and Nevada.

I with the PP. If Biden picked someone accepting of other people like Klobochar, it could be enough to sway me from voting for Trump.

This is the only statement that makes sense. Sadly the electoral college is an atrocious way of picking a leader.

On the contrary, it is a great system, and you can see why in this very thread.

We are discussing how to appeal to the center, how to respect other people's views.

Without the electoral college we'd be discussing how to mobilize the base and f#ck the center.

In 2016, Trump mobilized the base, which was enough to win the Electoral College, and f#cked the center.

That's not what helped him win.

Eight million former Obama voters did. Trump won because he won the center (while, true, mobilizing the base)

This distinction based on vague statements strikes me as either (a) not credible, or (b) not logical. Therefore, it’s hard to give much weight to your viewpoint.

+1. Is also love to hear from PP why s/he thinks Harris turns people off. I hate when people say things like “something about her...” but can’t be specific. What names did she actually use when name calling? Calling someone out in bad prior behavior is not name calling.

My former republican mom adores Harris. She was her #1 pick for president. But unlike OP, my mom also doesn't think she has the right to dictate what are party does simply because her party f'ed up.

I really hate that so many strong, smart women (Clinton, Harris, Warren) are subject to the 'something about them just turns people of' line.

I don't trust them. How's that for an answer? I trust klobuchar even though she's not charismatic. I think she's solid and she can reach those on both sides.

Clinton is a liar, as is Warren. Ok - warren "bends" the truth. Kamala flip flops and is a hypocrite. She now SUPPORTS Biden whom she called a racist? No thanks - since when is hypocrisy a winning trait?

Ahh, there’s that vague right wing whisper campaign we all know. “I just don’t trust her.” Sure honey, we’ve got your number.

I love Gretchen, but I think it would be better for her to run in 2028 after being governor for 2-3 terms.

I agree with you.

Klobuchar: Yes.

Warren or Harris: no way.

Klobuchar: Yes.

Warren or Harris: no way.

All three of these senators ran for president with detailed plans on lots of issues. Can you all tell us which issue swayed you to Klobuchar over the other two?

It's not about specific issues, but about general temperament.

Klobuchar comes across as pragmatic, sensible, calm, inclusive, honest.

I wouldn't use any of those adjectives to characterize Warren or Harris.
