Hayfield Football Coach Fired

Yep. Post Season Ban. VHSL has seen enough. It’s a shame corrupt FCPS didn’t do the right thing which would have spared the misery.

This should end Michelle Reid’s career with FCPS. She completely and utterly bungled this situation.

If true, this has never ever happened in northern region football. What a disaster and embarrassment. FCPS really is to blame. But I hesitate to jump to conclusions until we read VHSL’s decision.

It was reported by a reputable follower of Nova football but there are now suggestions it was inaccurate.

I don’t see this being true. When a team is caught with ineligible players, all their games are forfeited and the season comes to an abrupt end. I’ve seen this before.

Hayfield is a team football fans like myself would like to see matched up in the playoffs against Battlefield and Madison, but I don’t see them beating the 757 powerhouses. After last season, they know about Overton down there and it’s probably not happening again.

I have a kid who did this because he didn’t like his coach. Also Dug McDaniel did it and had a great senior year. I can see this happening if a bad program suddenly becomes a good program.

Irrelevant bc Hayfield didn't have a bad program.

No kid doesn't play tackle football at all for 3 years and then starts playing as a senior. Sorry, not buying it.

Hayfield wasn’t good last year. They only beat teams that were awful and anytime they played a mediocre team, they lost by around 50.

I thought Hayfield won the National District title last year. That’s a big deal. Winning districts.

They tied for the championship in the district that is gerrymandered to have the weakest programs. It's a big deal in the sense that none of the schools was ever going to beat a Patriot District team in the playoffs so it's nice that they get a trophy for beating each other.

Right, I’m starting to think Hayfield isn’t such an elite team after all. They are probably just a decent team in a super weak district

Not sure how "elite" they are but they are unfairly stacked. Look at the Chantilly game score, 70-0?

Wouldn’t say unfair, but they. Are stacked. And the Chantilly coach bought that one.

Yes, unfairly stacked is correct.

He "bought" what?

That shellacking.

By...not cheating like the Hayfield coach? Hmmm.

He disrespected a program that was more talented than his so in return, the other coach had no mercy.

How did the other public HS team end up with "so much more talent"? By cheating.

Good for Chantilly for pointing out the elephant in the room that FCPS tried to sweep under the rug.

Madison is ranked higher than Hayfield. Does that mean Madison cheated?

You keep trying to drag other programs down in the mud with you but never actually point to any concrete proof. Madison certainly didn't have 33+ transfers this year specifically to play Varsity football.

OMG you guys! we have an appearance from that nutty cult religious lady who claims she is the Hayfield coach-chaplain, Karen Bettis Davis...trying to throw shade on another high school. Wow.

How could the Coach have a two year post-season ban but not have to forfeit any of their in-season games? Is anyone conversant on football VHSL rules who could explain that?

LOL Chad Ricardo's "source" is clearly the coach himself. OK.

Letters from VHSL to schools like this should be made public. Just like FCPS's report should have been made public. Hiding information only makes people suspicious that the fix is in.

This creep is everywhere. I cannot believe people allow here access to their minor children. Did she post any more weird face-filter videos from the game sidelines?

My son heard the reason was playing academically ineligible kids in the Mt Vernon and Edison games. That seems a bit harsh of a punishment if true.

Maybe someone finally checked the addresses and discovered a kid was living at Planet Fitness.

Chads hairline is just awful. But makes sense. If they were found to have played ineligible players, games would be forfeited. That’s a no brainer.

Thanks. I wonder who tipped off the VHSL. Someone with a grudge obviously.
