Why do staunch republicans hate electric vehicles?

RIPS into the Biden administration’s green energy push for driving up inflation while at the same time diverting taxpayer dollars to wealthy Democrat donors:

The American people have understood that Biden’s green energy policies have led to the inflation that they are all feeling today…The AP reported that spending that drove up inflation all went back into the pockets of Democrats.”

Thank you.

Haha. Well, I've warmed to the idea of nuclear power over the years, but I'm not quite up to taking a nuke out on the road!

I’d personally love to carry a nuclear warhead with my on my bike rides. It would make drivers be more careful when passing me. We can *both* lose

Some wannabe suburban hilljack comes at you, rolling coal from his jacked up pavement princess, flying Confederate flags -- well, it's a far, far better thing you do than you have ever done.

I love our EV. We started off with a hybrid for a few years but switched to full electric last year. I highly recommend at least hybrid to anyone looking for a new car. It’ll change your life.

We went EV last year. We’ve done several road trips (400-600 miles each way) to many different parts of the country, including less EV friendly areas, and have had no issues. The range nowadays is fantastic (we get about 280 miles on a single charge), and it’s about 15 min to charge up again on the road, so just enough time to go the bathroom before you’re on your way. On our last trip to a place about 400 miles away, we stopped just once to charge, which we also needed just to use the bathroom! Chargers are everywhere nowadays.

I’m sure I won’t change any minds that stupidly oppose them just on principle but I always like to share my experience widely in case it interests others. People tend to be nervous about new things. I get it. But you don’t have to be afraid!

No one hates electric vehicles. People make choices on what car they drive for many different reasons such as safety, performance, price, configuration (some people need to haul things for work), etc.

Right now only a relatively small segment prefer EVs, some want hybrids, others stick with the internal combustion engine.

Me, I will drive an internal combustion engine car until the day I stop driving. I simply do not want to have the dinosaurs to have died in vain.

My issue is batteries. I like to keep cars a long time. EV batteries are expensive and I don’t want such an expense too early. Maybe leasing makes more sense for them.

God! This thread again. Ok time to lock it up. No one hates electric vehicles.

Nobody hates electric cars. They just want to continue to have choices, and not be forced to buy glorified golf carts.

Oh, you're buying it one way or another. The EV market collapses without heavy tax payer subsidies.

The only reason I don't have an EV is because I live in a building where my parking doesn't have a good charging option and because my elderly parents live in a rural area which doesn't have good charging options. Otherwise I'd be all over it. Hybrid in the meantime.

Golf carts? Hello, are you stuck in 1970? There are many EVs on the market that have a lot more horsepower and faster acceleration than a lot of internal combustion cars out there.

Well here's a Tesla that's been used as an airport taxi for years and racked up 430,000 miles on the original battery pack - https://www.thecooldown.com/green-business/tesla-model-s-2016-90d-range-test/

Being used in a fleet to do repeated short trips is pretty much the ideal use for EVs, and I don't think anyone really objects to that. If EVs stay in that lane, then you get a nice net benefit to the environment.

Its the luxury 5,000 pound EV that's leased and ends up in the crusher by the time its 10 years old that is the dubious proposition for the environment. Especially when its being used for the same trips a Vespa could handle.

lol too bad all the EV’s last 15-20 years. That is twice the life cycle of internal combustion vehicles. EVs also draw power from the grid which is 12 times cleaner vs combustion vehicles. You are very uniformed. Why is it conservatives all think their random opinions are fact?
