Why do staunch republicans hate electric vehicles?

The car industry is backing away from rolling out electric vehicles in favor of hybrid options, indicating more defeats to the Biden-Harris administration's efforts to force EV sales on American buyers.

Ford announced last week that the car giant is changing its electric vehicle strategy and backing away from its planned all-electric, three-row SUV, instead favoring the creation of hybrid vehicles for its next rollout of three-row SUVs.

"Our focus here is to remake Ford into a higher-growth, higher-margin, more capital-efficient and durable business, and that means these vehicles need to be profitable," John Lawler, Ford vice chair and chief financial officer, said on a call with media Wednesday morning. "And if they're not profitable, based on where the customer is in the market is, we will pivot and adjust and make those tough decisions."

Fox News Digital examined Harris’ record and involvement with the electric vehicle push and programs amid her vice presidency, and found the Democrat has had a heavy hand in promoting the end to traditional gas-powered vehicles. Harris ascended to the top of the Democratic presidential ticket last month, after President Biden exited the race amid mounting concerns over his mental acuity and 81 years of age.

Stretching back to her Senate career, Harris was one of the original co-signers of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and Sen. Edward Markey’s, D-Mass., 2019 Green New Deal legislation, which worked to establish a blueprint to shift the nation to 100% "clean energy" by 2040. The measure failed in the Senate.

After the Biden-Harris ticket won the 2020 election, Harris continued spearheading climate change initiatives, most notably taking charge of the Clean School Bus program. The EPA-backed program was created nearly three years ago as a provision under the Biden administration’s 2021 infrastructure bill, and allocated $5 billion for the program. The EPA has since made $1 billion in grants available to help deliver nearly 2,500 electric school buses to school districts across the nation.

Harris and EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan were touted by the federal government as the point people for the program, but it has only delivered 60 battery-electric or low-emissions propane-fueled school buses, the Washington Free Beacon reported last month.

Harris was also charged with helping lead the "Electric Vehicle Charging Action Plan" in December 2021, to ensure 50% of car sales were electric vehicles by 2030. The Biden-Harris administration further cracked down on the plan this year with one of the most significant climate regulations in U.S. history – it would force half of all new cars and trucks sold in 2030 to be electric.

The $7.5 billion federal program, which was part of 2021’s infrastructure bill, aimed to install half a million EV charging stations across the nation, but has only produced as many as eight federal charging stations as of May.

Yep too bad the only growth in the car industry is in EVs. The Chinese are way in front with EVs producing low to high end car. The US has about two years to catch up or lose, the car market. Maybe high tariffs will keep Chinese EVs out of the US but for the rest of the world it is too late. Without EVs Ford will be out of business by 2030.

So Ford is literally stealing all the subsidies, it’s not making EVs more affordable at all for low and middle class buyers.

This is exactly how Democrats are scamming regular Americans.

Nope sorry, hybrids until the Japanese and Swedes perfect their hydrogen options. EVs of the type produced by Tesla and the Chinese will have no place in the auto marketplace.

Ford’s CEO Jim Farley is the son of a global banker. He’s not a “car guy” in any way shape or form, he’s a Wall Street hatchetman with marching orders.

Ford's C-suite executives were left humbled by China's electric vehicle makers after taking a test drive in a Chinese-made EV last year, The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday.

Ford CEO Jim Farley and CFO John Lawler had visited China in early 2023 when the pair decided to take Changan Automobile's electric SUV for a spin, per The Journal…

Farley and Lawler were left both shocked and impressed by how smooth and quiet their drive was, The Journal reported.

"Jim, this is nothing like before," Lawler told Farley, per The Journal.

"These guys are ahead of us," Lawler added.

Farley's fears were piqued again in May when he made another trip to China, The Journal reported. John, this is an existential threat," Farley told Ford board member and former Goldman Sachs executive John Thornton after his trip…

When Tesla held its quarterly earnings call in January, CEO Elon Musk acknowledged the threat posed by Chinese automakers, calling them "the most competitive car companies in the world."

"If there are no trade barriers established, they will pretty much demolish most other car companies in the world," Musk told investors at the time.

Yes, basically tariffs are the only thing keeping the domestic auto industry alive at this point. Without tariffs and other protectionism, China would dominate this industry like they do so many others.

Who knew that sending our manufacturing base overseas, allowing industrial espionage on a massive scale and viewing blue collar workers as losers would have consequences?

Just another complete disaster for Democrats. So SAD.

Because of a choice by Ford's CEO to abandon gas powered vehicles.

Another go woke, go broke dimwit.

Also EVs are a lot easier to build and present less barriers to entry. The chinese have EVs that will cost $19,000 in the US with 100% tariff. Without the tariff the car is $10,000 and get over 300 miles per charge. If they make that car here or in Mexico it would qualify for the $7,500 rebate. They have bunch if cars in the $36-51k range that will qualify for the rebate being built in Mexico.

The United States-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) Free Trade Agreement is fast becoming a free trade agreement for the world, whereas any multinational with a presence in Mexico can set up shop and make the U.S. its number one target. China is doing that now.

The auto sector is top of mind for the Chinese. They know that most industrialized nations have a native auto sector. Korea followed in Japan’s footsteps. China is following in both. With tariffs on mainland China automotive, their automakers and auto parts manufacturers are heading to Mexico. Their prime market is the U.S.

Since June 2022, 29 Chinese auto parts manufacturers and car makers like native brand Chery and MG Motors (SAIC Motors of Shanghai bought the iconic British car company in 2007) have announced a combined $7.06 billion in investments in Mexico. Of the $14.2 billion in Chinese corporate investment in Mexico in 2022 and 2023, for example, a little less than half came from companies that make cars and car parts, based on a collection of local news articles and data from J.P. Morgan analysts led by Rebecca Wen.
