Travel Soccer teams around NOVA let's discuss

I am curious about what FCV is telling current ECNL players. Are they telling them to try out for and switch to DA or are they still holding out hope for FCV ECNL?

They changed the training format this spring and it has been working out much better. Anyway with the move of BRYC out of the CCL and into the ECNL at the younger ages they will no longer be participating in a league for the younger years. Scrimmages and 2-3 tournaments for the year. My son enjoys the competitiveness of travel and enjoys the weekend games. Not planning in riding a college scholarship but looking for him to get quality training and compete at a higher level than Rec leagues. Curious to know what parents would consider doing if they prefer the league format? Move to another club in a league (CCL/NCSL) or stick it out with BRYC? Other clubs in our area are LMVSC, PWSI (crappy traffic), SYC and SCAA. Perhaps ODSL?

Do not go ODSL if you are looking for competitive next level play. Go to LMVSC.

I'd recommend checking out LMVSC. Their boys in the younger age groups seem to be Doing well from what I have seen at CCL games and tournaments.

Also if those same young age groups continue to develop and remain with the club at the older age groups then it's possible that they could be strong across all age levels. Not currently familiar with older age groups but agree that the young age groups have put out some good teams that play an attractive brand of soccer.

Go with Real Mundial for Spring, they play from Spring to Summer for one league, for $150 it's a steal.

We had a negative 30 goal differential, approximately (yeah, I know), but the boys played on a very nice turf field at a facility that was easy to get to for our club and I'm not making this up but the refereeing was some of the best we've ever experienced. Now we will head back to our low-level NCSL play with tails between our legs.

That's odd because in many of the divisions across the age group it was non-CCL teams in the Finals and taking home the medals: PWSI, SAC Premier, Achilles, Team America, VSA, MD RUSH...even if they were outnumbered by the CCL teams in attendance. There was not a clear dominance by anyone across the age groups---even amongst the Clubs with the most teams entered. Which--is great---shows variety and lets them get outside of their box once in awhile.

Man do you have some kind of agenda. You must be a coach or TD with an ax to grind against Arlington.

Winners in the highest bracket of each age group:

U10 - Arlington
U11 - Arlington
U12 - LMVSC (Arlington was finalist)
U13 - Arlington
U14 - Arlington

There is no FCV ECNL next year. Its DA or nothing for top level.

It's good to hear that there will be enough talent to spread among the three Virginia girls' DA teams at 04. I think that's the age at which the DA is the clear choice over ECNL, as a PP said, before they enter into recruiting prime years.

The way I see it...

VDA will be mostly PWSI-VSA for the 1st year. Then they will realize that they can not compete on a national level with just homegrown kids and will start branching out. But their tryouts were predictable.

Some kids will leave FCV after their 1st year of DA because they don't want to sit the bench when they could potentially start or up their playing time at VDA or Spirit (Which is drivable for FCV parents)

Spirit...IMO...will prevail or be very competitive in a few years when everything settles down. Location is very drivable for Loudoun- Western Fairfax area kids.

The fact that Spirit costs twice as much as FCV and VDA will hurt them for a long time.

Not when the Spirit costs are the same as or better than the costs at the ECNL clubs.

And in time they can reduce the costs significantly, thus opening the door to more players who are otherwise priced out.

Plus, if they do it right, spirit has built in role models in the pro players and lots of people around the organization who understand college and pro soccer options. That's something that neither of the other two DA clubs has.

They're not telling those players anything about ECNL. They're hosting open DA tryouts and the rest is TBD with no promises. I will now yield the floor to the boob who continues to post that FCV does not have ECNL for the eighty ninth time.

I suspect that the spirit will NEVER be cheaper than the other DA or ECNL clubs. Currently they are asking $6k not including travel. This is 3x BRYC and more than 2x McLean. The Washiington Spirit have shown with their super y history (cost 50% higher than other clubs) that they view youth soccer as a revenue stream.
